Michael Miller, Kilo Hotel 6, Mike Lima had just logged his 11th CUSO while doing a poda soda activation on September 16th on Hawaii's Diamond Head when he got his 12th contact unexpectedly right there on the summit.

A visitor approached asking him to help a woman who'd just collapsed inside the summit's observation bunker after hiking the trail.

Michael called 911 and then heading down to the bunker where cell service was uncertain, used his HD to ask hams listening on local repeaters to stand by in case they were needed.

Um, so it's, it's an iconic setting, so that's somewhere I, I always enjoy going.

But, um, you know, there, there are many beautiful properties here in the state.

When we went to Hawaii years back, we did the Diamond Head climb, which was rough.

After six days on the smooth Pacific, we caught sight of Oahu, the fairy island on which Honolulu is situated.

Diamond Head stretches far out into the blue like a huge lizard guarding its treasure.

A land of fruits and flowers, of sugarcane and palm.

The first view across the bay of the town with its wreath of foliage down by the shore, just as the golden sun was setting over the mountain range, was a picture to be remembered.

Today, there are many pretty summer villas built on its slopes.

While we were looking down on the town and harbor far below us, we saw little puffs of white smoke, and long after could just hear the booming of the guns of the warships, American, English, and Japanese, saluting in honor of the president of this little island republic, who was visiting one of the vessels.

Then we climbed higher yet through woods of koa trees bordered by thickets of the lantana with its many colored flowers up till we could look down into the dead crater of Punch Bowl and over Diamond Head and far off across the sparkling ocean while the steeply ravined and ribbed mountains seemed to fall away suddenly beneath our feet.

Punch Bowl, where in the early days the natives offered human sacrifices, is for the most part as red as clay, though a tinge of green in its rain-moistened chinks suggests those bronzes of uncertain antiquity.
