Dexys Midnight Runners

It's 8 minutes to 11.

That was the Celtic Soul Brothers by Dexys Midnight Runners.

I'm joined now by a man who sounds like he has been running since midnight.

That's my worst one, I think, that I've done.

Great fiddler.

Helen O'Hara in Dexys is a fiddle

player.

He's a violinist.

Yep.

And it was quick from you doing Dexys on a weeknight to groveling for work.

What was that, a 36-hour transition, would you say? I'd

say it was from the Thursday night, happy party, Friday party, Saturday party, Sunday still partying, but beginning to...

He said, you are the perfect bill of health.

And I'm just like, how much fucking less sleep, more Red Bulls and Dexys and fucking beers.

I drank every night.

I probably drank every night last week.

We have so many cool people coming up.

I mean, Kevin Rowland from Dexys Midnight Runners, Murray Hill, Showbiz, all coming up on Bullseye with Jesse Thorn.

Really excited about that.

And of course, if you're getting ready to do your holiday or winter shopping, go to the Put This On Shop.

Oh, yeah.

You have the keyboardist Mickey Billingham and drummer Andrew Groca from Dexys Midnight Runners, who I now, after doing this podcast, know how much I love their podcast.

first two albums and they were in that band.

And then you have Horace Panter, the bass player from the specials.

there was an intermediate period like we had done the chumbawamba thing and everyone had an awesome time because we like seeing each other and we like getting together and we would i think try to find an excuse to do that even if we weren't playing a show And so there was this sort of like half-hearted kicking around of the idea of like, oh, maybe we'll do a different record, you know, next year.

We'll do, you know, a Dexys record or an Oingo Boingo record or something.

And nobody could really settle on one.

And then at some point, it was like, oh, Lucky and Dan have some new songs.
