During the trial, it was revealed that James had told an officer that he loved the TV drama Dexter, which features its main character playing a blood splatter analysis expert by day and a serial killer by night.

The efforts of Devon and Cornwall Police were clear in the mountains of evidence that they produced to prove that James had been responsible for both of their murders.

The court heard that Claudio's cause of death could not be identified due to his dismemberment and burning of his body.

James told the court that he had found Claudio hanging from a tree and that it had been Daniel Coleman's idea to dismember his body.

For the murder of Daniel Coleman, count two, I sentence you, Mr Desborough, concurrently to imprisonment for life, the whole life order.

Again, that means the early release provisions will not apply to you, so you will never be released from prison on parole.

Whilst James spends the rest of his life in prison, Devon and Cornwall Police have now opened a new investigation.

It has since been revealed that there were at least four suspicious deaths of other residents who lived at the South Lodge hostel when James lived there.
