Devolution

It is out in paperback.

If you prefer a monster story, which in X-Files terminology I do, then Keela and Olivia both read and loved Devolution by Max Brooks.

We're gonna say Devolution.

I am not 100% sure what the preferred [laughs] pronunciation is, devolution, or...

But I'm gonna assume devolution.

It is not a spoiler to say that this is kind of a Bigfoot-esque story, and so that's one of the things I think The X-Files does best is it takes these figments of our imagination, maybe figments of our imagination, and it acts as if they are real and could really be wreaking this kind of havoc, sometimes murderous havoc, on their com- on the communities involved.

This sounds very much like an X-Files episode.

I was not going to include this book, and then I was telling Keela I was recording this episode, and she was like, "[gasps] You have to include Devolution by Max Brooks." And so this is a book loved by Olivia and Keela, and Keela, who is an X-Files fan as well, immediately was like, "You have to include this." So I am including Devolution by Max Brooks.

I know.

And the one I read recently that got me out of a horror kick was Devolution by Max Brooks.

Oh, yeah.

Yeah? Yeah? Is that the right name?

Oh, my God.

I re-listened to Devolution.

The exception to all audiobook hatred is any Max Brooks audiobook because they are always so well produced.

I don't normally like a graphic audio because I feel like they let everybody record their own and then nobody knows how to do volume equalization.
