Devil's Path

And highlight of the weekend was seven out of the 12 of us on Sunday morning decided to do the sunrise hike.

So we were up Departed camp at 4.45 in the morning, had our headlamps on, and we did a pretty challenging two-mile stretch of Devil's Path.

Two miles is a pretty short stretch of the overall Devil's Path, but, you know, it's one of the, you know, regarded as one of the most challenging stretch of hike on the East Coast.

Wow.

4.45 in the morning, dark out, headlamps, pretty challenging two miles up to reach the peak of West Kill Mountain with a 15-minute buffer to watch that sunrise with a cup of coffee.

it's it's disappointing you know a lot of i mean for me people like me i love viewpoints kind of inspires me to get up to the next spot or something and recently i did indian and i talked about this and we lost like two or three viewpoints on indian head and that's it's a pretty significant area to know, to lose a viewpoint, especially when you're doing the devil's path, it's motivation to start and stuff.

And, you know, I'm not asking the DEC to go down and fricking chainsaw everything.

Maybe, you know, help trim here and there, teach us volunteers that would love to learn about this, to learn about, you know, instead of just like little snippets, I forgot what the, the two feet off of the trail or something like that.

yeah yeah you gotta yeah you gotta you gotta nail those out especially now as i'm starting to see some leaves changing which is i i hate to say that but um john foolish not stupid did the eastern part of devil's path uh and with freddie even got some summit naps uh at the top and then went to south double top beginning of fur with zero and scott as well So he's nailing off.

I'm pretty sure John is going to be doing, on the 7th of Labor Day, is going to be doing Cheryl in North Dome for his single season, one of his single season.

We had a recent discussion on the Overlook News about the lack of rangers that we have in the Green, Sullivan, Ulster area.

Somebody said there are five rangers on duty at all times, which is absolutely insane, especially for what we have at the Devil's Path, Catarsco Falls.

The Blue Hole hasn't really been an incident place that... that much so but still the whole green county i think has has one forest ranger on on trail at all times like on duty on all times and we're talking about windham blackhead uh up towards there right green that's green is that green uh yeah sorry sorry to put it on the spot ted
