So I've been, I've been reading a lot of comics lately, Dale.

I finally read, it's bittersweet because they, in 2018, Seven Seas put out the, a two volume classic collection of Devilman, Godenagai's Devilman.

Have you ever heard of Devilman? Whoa.

It has to have been the same as the anime movie from the 90s.

Toei came up with that Nun movie we watched.

I think they requested him come up with a version of that, but for kids, which is what Devilman was.

Uh, I read the Devilman manga, but I haven't seen the anime really, though I did have a, an early 2000s DVD release of, uh, like, a couple episodes of it at one point in my life.

Uh, yeah, Ghost in the Shell, I saw that one.

I saw Akira.

... like, he's a legendary manga creator.

Like, he's the dude behind Devilman, Cutie Honey, Violence Jack, Getter Robo, Mazinger Z.

Like, to say he's influential is an understatement.

He pretty much invented the entire, like, mecha genre.

Uh, Tim, how do you feel...

Like, I- th- this show definitely wears its influences on its sleeves, but I'm also like, it, it hit me way too late, but I was like, hey, wait a minute, isn't this just fucking Devilman? Isn't Chainsaw Man a little Devilman? I've only seen Crybaby, but I've read about the other ones, Devilman, Devil Lady.

Do you feel like there's parallels outside of the general concept?

I mean, I think it's like, it's clearly a next gen take on...

I, I think what, I think for me the Devilman thing is also just such a broad concept outside of anime.

I mean, it's, you know...

There's all kinds of parallels.
