Uh, but Devin, as our resident goaltender, what do you think of this deal? And Artush Sheleff, like, is he a guy that the Penguins can count on for 40, 50 starts this year? Do you go battery in this case?

I think they're hoping so.

Um, you know, and they certainly got the right, the right price for him.

This is one where he's kind of betting on himself.

Um, but as far as that, that dollar amount goes and what he showed, especially in the playoffs, I know it was a little short stint there, but he played extremely well and, and, uh, I, I've liked him.

He was, he was good in Vancouver.

Uh, Devon, should Ovi go for it? Like, should he base how long he's gonna remain in the NHL on going for 1,000 goals?

Would you agree with that?

Absolutely and, and, uh, the, the veteran thing becomes important on, on many different levels, where you wanna bring the right guys in that are gonna show these guys how to play.

Because it is, it's a whole different world in the NHL, and you can't, even if these, even if these kids are capable of playing skill-wise, like they have to learn how to, how to be NHL players, how to be pros.

The 82 game season, the playoffs, all this stuff they have to learn, and you have to bring guys in that can show them that.

And that's not bringing, you know, washed up guys that, that are at the very, very end of their career.

You need to bring guys in who are going to contribute, who are gonna support those guys, who are gonna play minutes, um, that they're not necessarily the top guy.

You got Celebrini, obviously.

Like, what was the biggest change for you when you got to the pro ranks and realized, "Oh, this is how I'll be able to play a full season?"

All right, well, let's get into the questions.

First question is from Josh Fenske and he asks, what is my favorite save as an oiler? That's a good question.

I'm going to go with two different saves.

One was against the Calgary Flames at home in Edmonton on Ole Jokinen.

It was in the first period.

I got just, I bit hard early on a shot.

Had the Oilers won that game, that building would have been off the hook.

Yeah

... it's not a situation where you've got just kind of a random backup on the bench.

You got a guy on the bench who was 26 and 6 or something like that, whatever he was during the regular season, who arguably could've started game one of playoffs.

So that's a weapon that's there, and good on Rod Brind'Amour to understand that and see the kinda energy that he brought into the group, and it certainly worked out throughout that.

Now, when it comes to Vegas, I don't, I don't know.

I, I don't, I don't think there necessarily should've been a change because you don't have that same thing.

You've got, yes, you've got Aiden Hill on the bench who won y- who won you a Stanley Cup, who's a capable goaltender, but he didn't play good hockey this year, and he didn't play good hockey all year.

How about you, Devin?

What, what happened? And, and should Torts have made a change here?

Um, no, I don't think Torts should've made a change.

Uh, I thought he played phenomenal last night.

Um, his best game of the series, I think, and, and, uh, kept them in it.

They, you know, it wasn't an easy game.

Uh, and, and he had plenty of chances and plenty of great saves.

I, I think it's one that you, you really have to run back.

So I mean, that's, there's a [laughs] it's always something that is interesting.

But I feel like guys like to do that and then they don't pretty quick.

And, and Toronto's a scary place right now just because of the uncertainty there on, on what are they gonna do, what are, how, how good or bad are they gonna be.

I mean, I know like it, it, with all the noise like it would be nice to go somewhere.

And I guess, you know, that for Vegas management and ownership, they hope they don't have to find that out.

But eventually you will.

I think, you know, the most important thing, there's two sides of it, is you want to build up the product long enough that they enjoy the hockey and they truly become fans, which I think is long enough now that you're going to have your loyal fan base.

You know, the draw is always going to be, even when a team's struggling, like you're going to have people coming in from out of town.

That's kind of where the tourist side of it can pick things up for sure because people are going to travel into Vegas to watch their teams, which they still do right now.

We already know how great he is as a coach behind the bench, but how much does this boost his resume if he's able to win a cup as a player and a coach?

Like, h- how does that sit with you?

It, it's, it's hard.

It's hard to wrap my head around, uh, just this, the whole thing too because, yeah, when I was playing, I was, I, I was playing.

It was, there was never, never this situation.

Um, no, Montreal's been fantastic, and, and I just start with Jakub Dobes.

I mean, first round he was obviously incredible, and he hasn't taken any sort of step back.

Uh, Buffalo's [laughs] thought about trying to take him out of the game there in the second period, but he, uh, he hung in there, and he's, he's been awesome.

But Montreal's defense as well, they're, they're letting him do his thing, and it doesn't mean that they're not giving up chances.

Uh, the chances are there, and he's stopping them, but they're giving him that opportunity with the work they're doing in front on rebounds, um, you know, just, just contesting shots.

Mm.

But what did you see in game one?

Yeah, it was wild.

And I think that if you look at the goals or not, you know, there's not bad goals going in.

These are two teams who can put the puck in the net and they showed exactly why.

I think there's some nights that they are, they're going to get in front of a couple of those, but certainly not a game where you're just seeing shots go in here and there.

I mean, I think if you're going to pick one, I'm watching the replays, you know, maybe the, the cadre one, obviously you want to get a save there when you're When just from a little further out, I mean, it's still a good scoring chance.

It's still a good shot, but when they're going in, like they're going in, you gotta, you gotta pick one.

Are we overreacting or do you think, you know, Tampa Bay needs to switch things up at this point?

Let's just schedule a game in the series, game four, where we're going, 'Hey, we're not, we, we're giving our guy a rest.'" Do you think that's something maybe if the Oilers make round two they should consider doing with Ingram?

But what do you think here, the five-on-five struggles for this team?

Mm-hmm.

... after the challenge and the PK, uh, to get back at it.

But again, you look at all the things, right? Okay, goal shouldn't have counted, or you don't feel like it should have counted.

Penalty kill that's struggled for the entire playoff gives one up.

Start the second period, get back to your game a little bit, start the second period, give up an early one, life's out of the building.

Florida's exactly, this is exactly what they do.

They, they take their opportunities, overwhelm for short periods and get those goals.
