Desperate Living

Mom.

Oh, Too Young, Desperate Living.

Yeah.

You

Okay.

So I would say, like Desperate Living where that movie is, oh, that's really wild, even for like a John Waters movie.

Got it, okay.

[laughs]

Usually in a movie for you to have sympathy for a murderer, they have to survive something terrible.

Like, you have to have seen them undergo some kind of horrific circumstances and then you're like, "Oh, th- well now their murders are justified." And yet when you're watching this you are rooting for Beverly so hard, and I think it is because, you know, like you were saying that John Waters has such an eye and such a love for people who are struggling, and this is written in a way where it's kind of like women trying to live these perfect suburban lives and be these perfect suburban housewives are struggling on some level as badly as anyone in Desperate Living.

And I think Kathleen Turner brings the same energy that she brought to, you know, her more dramatic, over-the-top roles.

You know, she's not the mousy woman from Romancing the Stone.

Like Michael and I said, we've always had these movies on our lists, right? Like Serial Mom, any John Waters movie, but [laughs] Serial Mom is one that's at the top.

And of course, you know we've covered some others already.

So if you haven't heard our other episodes on John Waters movies, definitely go check out Cecil B. DeMented or Desperate Living.

You know, we've done a bunch.

I found a bunch of script books, which apparently are new anyway, but they were much cheaper there.

These John Waters script books, where they're like the scripts for his movies, so Hairspray, Desperate Living, Pink Flamingos.

And the sequel to Pink Flamingos he wrote, which never got made, called Flamingos Forever.

But... oh dude it was it was i bought and then i got
