DeSoto High School

If you're not from South Florida, Broward Showcase is a premier high school football showcase that the Broward Education Foundation puts on down here, and there are schools from Broward County, schools from Miami-Dade County, Palm Beach County, but then schools that get flown in from across the country, some of the best talent in the country.

Bishop Gorman we saw from Las Vegas, DeSoto from Texas, teams that are ranked number one in the nation come down here and they take on some of South Florida's best, and it's an amazing showcase of high school talent.

But I was told that the folks at the Broward Showcase received somewhere between 400 and 500 media credential requests for high school football games.

And at St. Thomas Aquinas, that last game that we left because it was raining so badly, that they had, and this is a game that was nationally televised, mind you, they had nearly 300 credentials distributed for that game alone.

Um, so I have been coaching for the past 15 years.

I've done eight years at DeSoto High School, which is our current rival for volleyball.

Um, I've also coached at Mesquite Horn as well for the past three years, Mansfield, Timberview, and Irving, and I'm now going into year two here at Lancaster High School, where we are making money moves.

All right.

He picked me up.

So he drove me to, we went to DeSoto, but first we stopped at Duncanville so I could see that high school and see their stadium.

And we went to DeSoto, and then later on that evening we drove to, um, Fort Worth, Texas.

And dude, I was blown away.

I, I saw, um, North Crowley play Summer Creek, a school out of Houston.

It was just crazy.

Everyone in the town was there.

And then, um, the next day went to the Cotton Bowl for a double header to see at 12 o'clock it was, uh, DeSoto- ... play in Duncanville, and then at, uh, 5:00, it was North Shore playing, uh, North Shore out of Houston, playing, uh, uh, SOC, um, South Oak Cliff.

Uh, I absolutely think we are headed that direction.

And now, another comment from Rivals Director of Scouting and Rankings over at Rivals, my man Charles Power Who was at St. Thomas Aquinas' game for DeSoto.

That was game number one, the one that was on TV where he looked amazing amongst all those other stars, where Charles Powers said he was the best player on the field.

Here's what he had to say this past Friday when St. Thomas Aquinas took on, uh, Miami Columbus.

Boy.

Allen destroyed DeSoto and Duncanville back to back.

Tony, I was talking about this weekend.

And, and North Crowley.

Boobie Feaster- Well, I- ... from DeSoto High School.

Yeah, that's how I knew.

Wow.

And the big matchup in this one to me is Carroll's potent pass game, led by quarterback Hudson Tomchek and wide receiver Brody Knowles, going against a shutdown secondary for North Crowley, led by Jerry Outhouse Jr., Elijah Juan Houston, and a host of others.

And then there's another big game between DFW Powers, between DeSoto and Allen.

DeSoto's coming off a 6A Division II state title and moves down to the 5A level this year, while Allen, of course, is the largest school in the state and really impressed in Week 1 with a win over Duncanville.

Could take another big win this week if they're able to knock off DeSoto.

And really, the two players to watch in this one are DeSoto star running back Sarad Baker and Allen quarterback Ty Snell.

They're both must-see TV.

And really rounding out a group of strong matchups is Capella at Waxahachie, two other highly ranked 6A squads, and...
