Desiree Ellis

Mathallo has been a stalwart of the side for nearly a decade, winning her 100th cap over the summer.

She was an experienced head and a youthful side, and was glad to see some new faces being given their chance by national team boss Desiree Ellis.

Mathallo said, It was also a successful international break for a number of Mathallo's teammates from SIPI.

Club co-captains Amy Muir and Lee Gibson were selected for Scotland's World Cup play-off doubleheader against Checha.

Absolutely.

Let's hear what Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has to say about the ma- the match coming up.

We've always been a team, um, that has brought in newer, younger players.

Uh, we've always refreshed.

The final two sides in the competition book their place in Los Angeles.

Let's hear from Desiree Ellis.

You might think the game is easy, and before you know it, you're 1-0 down and you're chasing the game, and that's not something you want to do.

You want to make sure that you take the game away from them.

Um- I did a few more interviews.

I did Kaylyn Swart and Desiree Ellis, and I interviewed some footballers from Tanzania for The Guardian and, you know, just sort of carried on.

And about six months later, um, I got a call from Janine's agent who said to me that, by now she had retired, um, I had watched her last game, 'cause I was quite invested at that point, so I watched her last game on, on the telly and thought, "Well, I, I know this woman" kind of thing.

But didn't do anything about it.

And we'll start with soccer news.

Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis is confident Jessica Williams' move to FC Copenhagen can propel the goalkeeper into contention for the number one jersey in the national team months from now.

Williams was among the goalkeepers considered by Ellis for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, but ultimately missed out on the final 26-member squad in Morocco.

Following her move to Denmark, Ellis told SABC Sports she hopes the new challenge will raise Williams' standards.
