You run on stage and you fall on your ass.

Yeah, like I just took it.

It was raining.

The stage got very slippery.

I charged out there and I had been rehearsing this charge up for months and months and months, you know, and I was in a rehearsal studio half the size of this room.

So to rehearse running on the stage, I would run out the door and down the block in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and run back.

And I ran out there.

Just kind of put us together on how this all came together.

Hmm.

You know, like a song I wrote about, like, a father and a daughter, and it happens to hit a daughter at a very specific time in her life where she's going through something with her father.

Like, that's such a cool alignment of the universe.

And then to hear that story in person is such a special, and moving, and profound thing.

And those are the kinds of stories that keep you going when you're on 26 making no money, even though s- everybody says all the money's in touring and merch.

You know what I mean?

If someone is not familiar with Des Rocs, are there three songs that you think they should listen to that sort of, you know, kinda really signify who you are as an artist and identify you as an artist?

Definitely.

I was just born with this sense of like, I love rock and roll music.

I love all music, but I especially love rock and roll music, and I've been chasing it for three decades and like my, you know, my entire life.

I've just wanted to do that.

And I've spent so many years of my life-Making that kind of music when it was not in, in any way, you know what I mean? Like, playing some VFW hall with pop punk bands like I'm Bruce Springsteen to 80,000 people, and just getting crickets night after night after night after night after night after night.

So the idea of like, "Oh, it's coming back.

What really helped you push through?

Yes,

I've been preparing my whole life for this show.

We were rehearsing for this show in an abandoned radio station in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

And the way we would rehearse, it was about one-tenth the size of this room.

And I would run outside and down the block to prepare physically for what it was like to be on that kind of stage.

And we finally get out there, and I've got my in-ears in, and I'm getting ready to charge out, and a stagehand comes up to me right at the last second.

He says, I've got to tell you something right now.

Listen, to the person who may not have been in the loop, to a lot of the people in the audience, that must have looked like the most badass rock move ever.
