Des Moines Menace

However, most people probably know him from his time in Seton Hall and Orange County Blue Stars.

Please welcome to the show, Dax McCarty's best friend, Des Moines Menace legend, and Apple TV analyst.

Session question.

Welcome,

So you won it in 2015 and 2017, and 1914 was the first Open Cup final, correction.

You also played for the Des Moines Menace in 2025.

Yes.

Trying to keep the dream alive.

But there is this sense of...

I think about Des Moines Menace is another team of recent memory where they pulled all of these former U.S. men's national team players into the squad to make a run at it.

So there is...

It's wacky.

Like, it's been years this saga has gone on for Des Moines.

I know, um, a few Des Moines Menace fans.

Uh, Bill Barrett, you know, a Peoria City fan, knows a few of them as well.

This has been a saga trying to get, you know, a professional soccer team in Des Moines, a city that's definitely big enough, and I think has enough soccer support to, you know, have a team like that.

So it's...

There, there, there's obviously pros and cons to this, you know, whether you're a player, whether you're a college, um, and whether you are e- a USL2 team that relies on, you know, Division 1 players.

Like, you know, again, Vermont Green, Annapolis Blues, H- I mean, I'll even bring up Peoria City and Des Moines Menace.

They rely on a lot of D1 players.
