Derrick Begay

So I'm not going at it from that perspective.

I just hated the idea that Derek Begay didn't go to Sioux Falls because his partner wasn't in at Sioux Falls.

And both of those guys are trying to make the NFR at the very last week.

And so I'm like, so that was a big issue for me.

I'm the wrong one to ask.

Like, I just – I don't have enough skin in the game to really have an opinion anymore.

But I kind of did follow the Derek Begay and the Colter Todd, and it was kind of a cool story that Derek – Derek turned down an opportunity to go for a lot of money to go help his partner.

As far as the tour deal goes, like you guys just said, it seems like that's where kind of the rodeo wants to go.

And then, you know, Derek Coulter stuck it out and got Coulter in and helped that deal out pretty good.

How cool was that where Derek Begay turns out of the Governor's Cup One of the best rodeos of the year.

What would you put the Governor's Cup at? I mean, it's got top two or three rodeos,

I think.

I feel like.

Well,

when you look at the top 15 guys this year, you know, Driggers, Tyler Tryon, Corbin, James Arviso, Lightning Aguilera, Andrew Ward, Tanner Tomlinson, Jake Smith, Cody Snow, Derek Begay, you, Dustin Esquiza, Clay Smith, Ketch Kelton, and Dawson Graham.

I don't see anybody in there that looks like a go-catcher.

The activities, they have kids dummy roping.

And I mean, you know, you see rodeo stars like Derek Begay, 11-time qualifier for the Wrangler NFR, Navajo Cowboy, and Eric Rodgers World Champion.

Mr. Senegeni there, teaching these kids to rope.

And they just look up to these kids.

Alaskan tribes up there in the Pacific Northwest.

James Arbiso, a youngster.

I think he's 18 or 19, and he's going to his first national finals rodeo with his uncle, Derek Begay, average winner at the WNFR.

Tristan Caleria, steer wrestler from Hawaii, a native from there, a very exciting young man to watch in his competition, and we're looking forward to his rookie year in the City of Lights.

What?

My buddy, Derek Begay.

[laughs]

Oh, my God.

Yeah, I really am.

Oh, yeah.

Everybody, everybody, even Cooper Davis was in the, um, locker room, and I was talking about Derek, and Cooper was talking about, "Man, that's one of my favorite cowboys in the world." So everybody loves Derek Begay.

But anyways, um, Jerome, you tried to say that he was not my buddy last week.

And it came down to the last chance or the last hurrah right here in Stephenville.

First off, I heard that Derek Begay could have gone to Sioux Falls and he didn't go.

He turned out to make sure his man Colter Todd got in there.

I mean, that's a true friend and a true partner right there.
