Derek Stepan

Like the, to, you know, it's just, I mean, it's a huge hole there, and, uh, unfortunately this thing got him right in that, uh, you know, flush right there.

Um, Anthony, one cool thing that did happen at practice today is Derek Stepan went on the ice.

Uh, obviously a great faceoff guy in his, um, career with the Rangers, Coyotes, um, Carolina, um, and went on the ice.

He's a development, um, guy with the Wild, and he goes on the ice today and he works with guys like Yurov and Sturm and, but Yurov is the one that he's really gonna work with.

Uh, past winners include Mike Richter, the first year that it was given out in 1988, and again, it goes to the best rookie in training camp.

You've got other notable, you know, winners such as, uh, you know, Henrik Lundqvist, Brandon Dubinsky, Marc Staal, Derek Stepan, Filip Chytil, Adam Fox.

Uh, last season it was Noah Laba.

All these players just to name a few.

... that played three months ago.

But I, I do think there's something to be said also about Jackson Blake having a great pre-season a few years ago to make that team out of camp, right? Like, there are guys like, you know, I think Derek Stepan when I was younger with the Rangers.

He has a great training camp.

He has a great pre-season.

Win game five in the Garden, win game six on the road, and then game seven in Madison Square Garden.

Everybody remembers, you know, Derek Stepan in overtime scoring to give the Rangers a two to one lead.

And rightfully so, because obviously, you know, game seven overtime winners, by their very nature, are instantly iconic, and I'll never forget that.

I mean, reacting to that and everything, uh, just, just an amazing moment for the Rangers.

You've got Lundqvist against Holby, both in their prime.

Nobody else scores.

Goes into overtime and, uh, you know, obviously Derek Stepan took care of business at that point.

So, uh, huge win there for the Rangers, obviously.

Getting burned by a bridge deal.

Eric said that the Rangers were burned by Derek Stepan being signed to a bridge deal.

Stepan signed a two-year, $3.075 million deal as a restricted free agent during the summer of 2013.

And a subsequent play over those two seasons earned him a six-year, $6.5 million per year deal.

Hamanick, he's

looming over this thing, you know? Like, he seemed like a good guy, and he was, like, well-liked in the room, and actually, I think, kind of did provide the off-ice leadership that Derek Stepan, Wasteman, was supposed to.

Awful at that stage of his career, but, you know, there's other Wastemen to expose over Hamanick, but he is...

He's in the mix.

Professional penalty getter, Ben Harper.

So I'm going to read off the official Senegoth Lounge, all Wasteman teams.

Team James has Alex Chiesan, Derek Stepan, Nikita Filatov as the forward line with Brian Lee and Patrick Wirkosz on defense and Pascal Leclerc in goal and John Paddock behind the bench.

Yikes.
