Department for International Trade

I mean, you will always be the one, if you're at the top of a government department, you're the one that carries the can, you're the one that answers to the House of Commons, you're the one that answers to the public.

But the more that you build the structures, and when Theresa May asked me to build a new government department after Brexit, the Department for International Trade, we started off with four of us.

And so I was very much cognizant of some of the changes we'd carry out at the MOD of bringing better governance to some of the processes.

And so we really began, as I often do, with a structure of concentric circles, you know, of like the very close team that you need to keep.

Let's see if we can run with it rather than finding the reasons to not give you a loan.

Yeah, absolutely.

And it is because you were talking about when you set up the Department for International Trade, it was a startup, right? It was a startup.

And I remember us having a conversation previously, not the one we're having right now, where we were talking about that sort of business mindset that you bought to setting up that whole kind of department that you had.
