So the name of the podcast is Great Minds in Dentistry.

And I'll be bringing on guests that people that I consider to have really great thinking.

around their subject matter in dentistry.

You don't have a constraint that says you can only do this.

You have complete control over what it is that you want to do.

And so part of the mission of Great Minds in Dentistry, obviously, any guests that I would have would share that mindset that Dentistry is amazing.

We have Virtual Standard Solutions, which is also a VA company that has trained virtual assistants already in dentistry.

So you don't have to do any training.

And then lastly, I just started Latinas in Dentistry in November.

So that's a community group where all Latinas in dentistry are welcome to join and we network and just connect each other.

Well, thank you for doing that work.

I could do that too.

Yeah, huge.

I mean, we get that right now a lot in our Latinas in Dentistry group because we have practice owners that are Latinas.

I do full arch surgery.

And like the, the, Dentistry has changed so much in the last, I'm a dentist 25 years now, last month, and it has changed so much.

We've become, we work in a digital age, like look where we are right now.

I was approving designs on my phone while I had coffee this morning.

You know, I remember when you had your first The Chosen Few, like your party.

And Dentistry had never heard of anything like that before.

And all of us got these invites and they were hand delivered.

And we were like, what is this event? Like, was it called The Chosen Few?

You know what I tell them? This is my golf.

Dentistry is my golf.

And so, you know, and that's a credit really, honestly.

I didn't really finish my thoughts.

And then somehow, someway, Like I alluded to, I met Carl, and then Carl led me to Topeka's Institute, and pretty much this has been my education ever since.

Everybody listening should know that I didn't plan this with Mike before I got on, but every time – some of you know that I have an institute, the Rasner Institute, and I've had it for 11 years, and it's a cool thing because – It's that bridge between didactic information early in your implant and oral surgery journey.

It takes you from what you learned in a classroom to live patients, because I had to go to the New Jersey Board of Dentistry and get permission to allow doctors from different states without a New Jersey license, and now Canadians are allowed as well, to come into my office over a two-day period and practice on patients.

And you know, it's an amazing, amazing thing that I think one day I'll look back on more than I do now, just like I'm sure you will, and feel really—I mean, I'm proud of it now, but It's an amazing thing, and I know you know what I'm talking about.

You're usually treating relatively healthy people, and, uh, you know, you can kinda set up your own hours.

You're not working in a hospital." So very naively after my A Level exams, I decided dentistry sounds great.

Why don't I become a dentist?

And why, why would you say that was very naive of you? [laughs]

I mean, I, I, you know, when I think about the students that applied to dental school right now, for the most part I think they've done their homework.

They've shadowed dentists.

They've thought about what a career in dentistry means to them.

I think they've had more experiences.

So the first thing you need to do is to create this network of like-minded dentists and physicians, and you need to start creating what I call the super first appointment.

For me, the magic of modern dentistry will ...

The revolution of modern dentistry, what I call dentistry 3.0, will happen on the first appointment.

So the way you start the relationship with the patient, the way you collect data from the patient, the technologies that you use to create the comprehensive information from the patient, everything happens on the first appointment.

Then you need to expand your network of collaborators beyond the ortho, perio, implant surgery, prostho.
