So talk a little bit about the classes that you teach, and then let's talk about the projects and the actual hands-on work that your graduate students do.

Sure.

Yeah.

So Florida State University has the oldest urban planning program in the state.

We just celebrated our 60th anniversary.

The program was established in 1965, and the program for a very long time has had a position called Planner in Residence.

The idea of the founders of the department was to bring in a professional who had worked in professional practice to teach students really what it was like to work in the work environment to address real projects.

But let's talk about a couple of the projects that would be of interest to counties.

Oh, yeah.

Um, and, and I did a couple episodes of JAG, and he was starting NCIS.

And I was, I, I, I was very fortunate because f- first of all, I love moving the camera, and I love making the camera a character in the scene with the actors.

And Billy Webb, who was the DP at the time, um, he w- he was the best at moving the camera, and, and h- he and I both understood what Don wanted to do with the movement and the handoffs and, you know, don't worry if you don't get that line in this angle 'cause you'll get it in another angle.

And he loved sorta jumping around the room, um, v- very much in the, in the genre of The Bourne Identity.

Oh.

So I went to Michael early in the morning and I said, "I want you to have all these words down because we're gonna shoot this as a oner." Now, I'm talking 15 pages of dialogue, and we're just, and we're gonna shoot the whole thing.

And I said, "Take your time." And I went to our DP, Billy Webb, and I said, "Okay, I want you to set up the steady cam on the dolly, and we're gonna choreograph a shot that's gonna shoot all 15 pages back to back."

No. [laughs]

He was at you, "Stay out of the box.

Clear the box.

You know, clear the near post." He, he was giving you instructions constantly.

You knew exactly where he was, and if you got in his face, you knew it, verbally and physically.

[laughs] He was very polite when he abused you.

You know, we went out"

The name of the book is Path of Le- The Path of Least Resistance.

S- sure, I'll read The Path...

So I, I read it, and I was blown away because what it was about was how the cr- it was about how the creative process works, and developing the skill of the creative process, right? And, and using c- uh, current reality and vision, uh, and, and how to, how to navigate that structure.

Okay? So h- his, his concept is all around structure.

Y- you know, and structure gives rise to behavior, but structure is the thing, whether it's a movie or a piece of music or a photography.
