Because if you haven't seen Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2... there's a couple of things that are insane about it one of them is Dennis Hopper who plays a deranged uh Texas Ranger who at one point outfits himself with two chainsaws and his dual wielding chainsaws to fight Leatherface specifically he's like I'm gonna fight him on his own terms ah uh two The Sawyers, who are the Firefly—not the Firefly family.
Dylan CharlesGUEST

there was another quiet precaution in the room that spring the summer before at a stadium show in washington dillon had sat in with the dead and broken a string part way through the first song steve parish went to the guitar stash for a replacement a guitar that had not been used in a long while and handed it over david nelson the dead's old friend from the bluegrass days was watching from the sound booth the guitar was horribly out of tune he said and he knew garcia died a thousand deaths so before the rehearsals garcia called nelson and asked a favor he could not promise nelson any playing but would he come along and look after the guitars keep them strung up and in tune nelson said sure the pink guitar had a short history of its own before it ever reached the rehearsal room a music store man named phil garfinkel a modulus dealer and a friend of the company's founder jeff gould had come out to see the dead's new year shows at the kaiser in oakland and he dropped in at the modulus factory there was a pink guitar there with a graphite neck garfinkel had gotten good at installing pickups and soldering and gould made him an offer if garfinkel could wire bobby's guitar in 30 minutes he would give him tickets for that night's show and here's the odd thing about that night Garfinkel did it, in the half hour, and went to the show.

The choice came a couple of days in, at the end of a rehearsal when it was just weir and dillon left in the building dillon stood there scratching his head over three or four guitars almost counting them off eenie meenie miney moe this one sounds good he said this one plays good then he looked at the modulus this one's really the right color isn't it and then there is garfinkel who calls the pink one bobby's guitar so was it built for weir all along was it a factory knock-off that happened to be pink and when dillon said it was the right color did he mean the color or was he joking or was he just tired of choosing the rehearsal room is empty now the borrowed strats are back in their cases and the pink guitar leans at the end of the row freshly strung perfectly in tune smoke before anything else it hangs in a soft gray layer just under the ceiling of the crew room cigarette smoke mixed with old coffee and the warm dusty smell of amplifiers that have been switched on since morning the air is a little too warm a chair creaks somebody laughs on the far side of the room this is the room you had to cross to get into the dead studio on front street Visitors came in off the street, through the crew's hangout, and there were always a couple of large men from the road crew sitting there when work was going on.
Rich BonnifaceNARRATOR
