Dennis Bovell

Run Around 83, Mad Professor Dub, Whaiohui out now on Efficient Space on a very, very, very solid full tracker that comes highly recommended in a Stinky Grooves style and fashion.

Uh, when we come back, we're gonna hear from Dennis Bovell, Coyote, Steve Julian and 808 Prince, Mia Codin, Anna Coste, Brenda Muller.

And that's sort of the half of it.

This is Stinky Grooves on 95bfm.

One of the best things on Iliant Tape in quite some time.

We started off with Dennis Bovell.

Tune for no reason apart from there's always a good reason to play Dennis Bovell.

They come, they go.

What there is to say about that song, Rasta Woman, and its B-side version from 1976, is that was another great find and reggae classic from the Dennis Bovell camp.

But, uh, not, not that long after, after I became a Clash fan, as I always said, and started getting interested in the genre, um, is when I came across LKJ, Linton Kwesi Johnson, and Dennis Bovell was his main collaborator.

So it was pretty easy connecting the dots from there to all the other work that Bovell had already done.

In those days before the internet, you used to just go into record stores and ask the clerk, you know, "What..." You know, "I couldn't find anything in a magazine about this.

What, who is this guy, Dennis Bovell? What else has he done?" You know.

They'd play you stuff, and you'd buy it.
