Denazification

There was a certain yawning inevitability when we heard the tired old lines trotted out again.

Denazification, Russian battlefield progress, and the inevitability of victory and root causes.

Although sidebar to that last point, Estonia's Foreign Ministry Secretary General, Jonathan Vseviov, reiterated his point that the root cause of the war is Putin's unwillingness to accept the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Back to Moscow, and there was no mention of Europe.

Of course, he's not entirely, interestingly, he's not entirely aligned with Putin.

Because Putin said, at least initially, that what he was trying to do in Ukraine was de-Nazification, not de-Bolshevikization, if that's a word, which it isn't.

He was trying to do de-Nazification.

And Carlson referred to that as ridiculous, the idea that it was Nazi.

And of course, it is ridiculous.

Um, it wasn't, he wasn't teaching his political opinions or his political perspectives, but just the act of teaching was something he really enjoyed.

Um, and I think this is probably one of the reasons why he was recruited, uh, immediately after the war, this would be 1947, to be part of one of the, um, uh, uh, o- one of the groups of academics who were sent to the British occupation zone in Germany, um, to contribute to the re-educat- re-educating and re-education and de-Nazification efforts, um, in that region.

Um, and so again, he's teaching a wide array of different Germans, including, as you mentioned, Reinhart Koselleck, who goes on to become one of the, the most famous historians of, of the post-war period in Europe.
