Demon Days

Yeah.

Uh, Gorillaz, Demon Days.

Nice.

I mean, Smash Mouth, Astro Lounge.

One of the first bands I was obsessed with were the Gorillaz.

And I was legitimately upset at the end of the Gorillaz Demon Days live DVD when Damon Auburn walks from behind the screen and does a couple songs.

I'm like, no, I want to believe this lie that you're a cartoon

band.

And he really, like, you know, and this is all speculation from my fandom here, but it felt to me for a long time as a Gorillaz fan that he resented the Gorillaz popping off as hard as he did because he wanted, you know, his other, you know, projects to pop off, which I loved.

I love all of Damon Auburn, but Auburn's kind of work, and shout out to him for speaking truth to power, but...

I feel like he just kept shelving gorillas in this like middle point past demon days.

And now

They, you, you, you just, you can't beat Plastic Beach.

You can't, you can't surpass Demon Days.

Unfortunately, you c- it's, it's hard to admit when your faves have peaked almost 15 years ago.

Song Machine was pretty good, though.

I went to see them on this tour.

At the time, a lot of people were kind of shitting on Plastic Beach and saying, like, Demon Days is the best.

It's the best.

It's the best.

And now it's funny.

At the time, people were like, I don't like this album.

Demon Days was better, blah, blah, blah, blah.

if you look at like discourse about them now and see the people talking about their albums, Plastic Beach is like at the top, like everybody loves Plastic Beach now.

I think it was some sort of a trade-off as Dell famously appeared in the song Clint Eastwood.

And the album, as a result, has a bit of a, sounds a bit like, sounds a bit like Demon Days at times.

Well, when Damon appears, the signature's there.

So pretty cool to listen to it with that in mind.
