Now, in all this, there are always the two scenarios which have been discussed over the past years.

The first one is the cooperation between LDK and Vetëvendosje.

This nearly happened, but at the last moment, uh, failed because of the internal tensions within LDK.

The second one is the scenario of cooperation between Vetëvendosje and, uh, PDK, which would have been unimaginable before 16th of September because PDK wanted to stay out of any, any cooperation with other political parties, hesitant towards Vetëvendosje, betting on Thaci's return.

However, this might have changed in the past days as PDK is looming on the horizon.

Well, Tachi was really the driving force within the KLA.

The Original driving force, as you say, was this LDK party, a group of intellectuals, essentially, who objected to Slobodan Milosevic, the Serbian strongman, ending the autonomy which Kosovo had enjoyed within the Yugoslav Federation.

when he came to power in the late 80s and early 90s.

They tried to lobby through normal political means, weren't getting too far.

Thatchy led a group of hard men.

He was based in Switzerland at that stage and they decided that military struggle was the only way they were going to make progress and they really eclipsed the LDK party,

particularly in the post-war period.

There was a momentum towards war but there was also a peace movement which led to international talks and the hope of being able to drive a deal but ultimately it didn't happen.
