Those things are going to be ready to go if they're not able to be sworn in on January 3rd, I think.

Yeah, and if you think about Judge Luttig, the one who's basically raised this possibility, he's connected to Mark Elias, Democracy Now!, Democracy Forward, Public Citizen, Public Integrity, ACLU.

This guy knows everybody.

And I'm sure there have already been discussions if those suits aren't already written.

Joining me is Reagan Rush, who was a longtime career lawyer at the division.

She now leads Democracy Forward's Red Line for Civil Rights.

Reagan, tell us about the Civil Rights Division before the Trump administration, what it was known for.

The Civil Rights Division was founded in 1957 to enforce our nation's civil rights laws as they were delegated by Congress to the Attorney General to enforce.

And so those are two of the many factors that will be involved in looking at what a buildback potentially of the Civil Rights Division looks like and what role it will play in future enforcement of this country's civil rights.

... what, what's happening is obviously that the President of the United States is selling pardons.

Now, one thing I'll just say about 60 Minutes, on the one hand, it's such a, a damning story that it got through, um, uh, the, the, uh, [laughs] the pro-Trump forces there.

But yet-

I'm including, uh, data centers and ignoring the will of the people.

I mean, these are all forms of corruption, and these are all the strongest areas, I think, where we could get Republican brothers and sisters to acknowledge they may have been hoodwinked, bamboozled, and led astray.

Yeah, I think what it requires is, you know, doing what we're trying to do every week, and which would, I wish mainstream media was doing more of, but independent media is doing it, and that's telling the story in depth of Trump's corruption, uh, and correcting mainstream media like 60 Minutes when it tries to s- tell the story of pardons as if it's really pardon brokers that are the problem, not the President of the United States.

So I think if we're able to get that message out, and I am hopeful that we will, that that's not just a message for the Democratic Party.

We gotta get to seating.

And all of these groups, many of which I brought on this week to talk about the case, the American Civil Liberties Union, the NAACP, the Democratic Attorneys General, Democracy Forward, Norm Eisen's group, uh, Mark Elias's, uh, law firm, who have filed collectively, Southern Poverty Law Center, 500 or more lawsuits, winning at an 85% clip, and have all of their future lawsuits drafted already, sitting on their computer, ready to be filed with an itchy trigger, trigger finger at a moment's notice.

Programming note, I just interviewed, and it's up now on Legal AF YouTube channel, uh, just went up about an hour ago, the great Sophia Lin Lakin, the director of the Voting Rights Project for the ACLU.

She has a case, part of the coalition of cases up before Judge Talwani on mail-in ballots include, included the ACLU.

I just got back from a, a couple of days in Detroit, where I interviewed...

Right.

Look, I regularly have on the Democratic attorneys general, the ACLU, Democracy Forward, Mark Elias, NAACP.

If you add up all of their cases, they have about 500 cases, there it is, against the Trump administration, and they have a winning percentage of over 85%.

Now, we focus, because it's important, on the few that we lose at the United States Supreme Court, but most justice is done at the level below the Supreme Court, the appellate court and the district court level.
