Delicious in Dungeon

I think that the game is doing cool stuff with the frenzy.

But I think the frenzy also serves to eliminate a lot of the squeamishness that people might feel around this game of like, I want the fantasy of Monster Hunter and Dungeon Meshi.

And in Dungeon Meshi, they're in the dungeon and they eat the monsters because they need to.

It's their only recourse because of they have no money, like they can't afford the supplies they need to feed themselves.

So it's a matter of of necessity.

So I kind of like that frenzy is tied to this capitalistic idea of like this is the problem and you are the heroes that are taking away this rot because this frenzied animal is hurting local communities.

It's hurting like other animals and you are the only people that are eating this frenzied food And everybody else is now able to have their, you know, low capitalism farming and we only fish as much as we need.

And so I actually think it has like interesting conversations about what it is to eat monsters and take any of that because kind of like the Dungeon Meshi, like... it's no more noble in my opinion to eat a monster than it is to eat a defenseless animal like at least you're fighting and killing this beast that would be hurting other people and other animals versus like an animal that has no way of fighting back So that's kind of my overarching opinion of it, is that when you kind of view the degradation of our food and the morality of food through the lens of what capitalism has done to it, rather than like, oh, they have feelings.

And he's in a show called Delicious in Dungeon.

What about violent crime, if a murder victim can be resurrected to serve as a witness? Old age, disease, and permanent injury also pose troubling questions if respawning doesn't have any limits.

And then Spuzz lists some examples from other fantasy media, so for example, the kind of The main plot, at least of what I've watched, of Delicious in Dungeon, he says, Delicious in Dungeon, resurrection only works on people who died inside the dungeon, and corpse retrieval is a viable business practice.

And, like, going in there to get someone you've lost is a main driver of the narrative.

In Dark Souls, the player and other undead NPCs can revive after death.

That's what I wanted to-

I think this is, I think this is more like, uh, how in Dungeon Meshi or in Attack on Titan, there's like a Japan-esque nation-

A perfect example is Dungeon Meshi.

Uh, I'm also not usually a fan of these dungeon crawler manga where, you know, it's, it's just about doing, doing a Dragon Quest for the most part.

Like, I haven't read a lot of manga.

I dabbled here and there, like, "You're Lying April," uh, and then, uh, I've read up-- I'm up to date with "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" and I've read "Delicious in Dungeon," but Attack on Titan has me so excited to keep reading.

But I'm trying to read a bunch of other stuff.

But I'm trying really hard to just read one thing, but it's very hard to be like, "Well, I, I just wanna read Attack on Titan," but I have all these other books.

Literally, there were times where I was, like, checking Crunchyroll to see if there was an announcement [laughs] for the next season.

So I will defer to all of the meals, especially the great feasts in the Redwall books, not themselves necessarily fantastical, but I want to be the size of a mouse while eating those meals so that like a grape is like the size of a watermelon to me and I get to engage with a grape in a way that I've never engaged with a grape before.
