Dele Sosimi

I must have heard this track played at least five times, if not more.

Are we out here festival this year? It's Dele Sosimi.

You know Fit Touch Am, the Bracket remix.

We've got 15 minutes left of the show.

We have a jazz event every Thursday.

I just came from, uh, Dele Sosimi last night celebrating Fela Kuti's birthday.

He was actually Fela Kuti's pianist.

Wow.

[upbeat music] Hello, and welcome to What Goes Around.

Today we're having a special episode dedicated to the great Dele Sosimi.

We had Dele on the show way back when, and he was one of the most interesting and enlightening guests that we've ever had on What Goes Around.

Thursday, October 15th would've been Dele's 88th birthday, and to celebrate, we thought we'd re-air our interview with the great man himself.

Now based in London, he has his own Afrobeat foundation, which he uses to educate, along with his role as a visiting lecturer in music and media at London Met.

He also continues to play electric live shows with his incredible 15-piece band and has been releasing music on the iconic Wawa45's label since 2015.

We are honored to have Dele Sosimi sharing his phonographic memories with us today.

Welcome, Dele.

Featuring, uh, myself, Stephen Budd, um, one of the founders of Unearthed African Recordings.

Uh, the legendary Dele Sosimi, uh, arranger, keyboard player, uh, uh, keeper of the Afrobeat flame, uh, and longtime associate of Fela Kuti.

And Femi Kuti.

And Femi Kuti-
