Del'Shawn Phillips

So I, I don't think it's anything to be concerned about for those, you know, seeing an 89% snap share for Henley instead of 100%.

Uh, Delshawn Phillips did take his place as the lone linebacker, for what it's worth, but I'm not trusting Phillips as an LB2 right now after he played just 55% of the snaps, and that was with playing every snap of those final two drives with Henley out.

So not going with Phillips.

We're just going with Henley this week in what was a, a very good matchup last week [laughs] for linebackers, although those linebackers were also the Rod Father and Jordan Brooks.

So it's just like...

You know, Delshawn Phillips, who is like a special teams ace, he's a second-team All-Pro last year.

How he's going to handle responsibilities, like, I mean, is Jeremiah Love supposed to play? It's looking that way.

It's just a matter of how much he plays and how effective he is.

You know, you can run duo.

You can double team only so many people, right? So I think having all those guys that can really muck things up on the interior and create that run wall so that these running backs can't get a runway on the other side, plus the linebackers to potentially, you know, I feel like a few different guys that you feel like specifically in the run game, Troy Dye is good in that regard, right? Delshawn Phillips has shown he's good in that regard.

Marlo Wax, that's his specialty, right? Like if you can hold things up, he's going to find his way through the, you know, through the wash and be able to come up with a big play.

So T.R. Tartt, I mean, already one of the best run defenders in the league, 16th out of 73 in run stop percentage, minimum 200 run defense snaps last year.

So it's really just Troy Dye that could be the LB2 here.

I think what will ultimately end up happening is probably being some nasty rotation with Delshawn Phillips and then maybe Marlo Max.

Now Troy Dye rotated in on passing downs.

And so depth is the key.

Delshawn Phillips, also a guy that's going to get a little bit more time with Denzel being hurt.

And a lot of these rookies, I think, are going to get a little bit more action.

Obviously, we'll see Messador a lot.

And for me, we're definitely going to need to see an increase in workload from the likes of Marlowe Wax.

If the team's looking to keep Troy Dye and Del Sean Phillips predominantly for special teams.

But who, Al, do you think that second up linebacker would be?

Probably Dye.

And Henley's probably a little better in coverage, although I made a fantastic tackle for loss in the backfield against the Rams.

Wax is more of your downhill thumper who's showing an aptitude.

I don't really feel that way about Dye or Delshawn Phillips, to be honest.

Kind of more hybrid or coverage-style players.

I had these exact five.

Troy Dye, Deion Henley, Delshawn Phillips, Denzel Perriman, and Marlo Wax.

The one thing I said was I could see If they thought maybe Troy Dye's ceiling was a ceiling and that Junior had showed them enough that they want to give him one more year, I could see maybe some flexibility there.

But I think they just kind of lean on the veteran.
