Del Paso Heights

I just never expected in my life.

You know, I grew up in a place called Del Paso Heights, which was outside of Sacramento, a very It was, at that time, a poor community.

It's now become incorporated and so forth.

It's got streetlights now and sidewalks.

Yeah, that's a program that we do with the Country Club Optimists.

Robla School District is in the north part of Sacramento in North Highlands, Del Paso Heights area, and it's in a tough part of town.

There are four elementary schools that are part of the Robles School District, and almost 50% of the kids that go to school there are considered unhoused, meaning that they are either homeless or that they are living with another family member because them and their immediate household isn't able to afford rent or a home or apartment of their own.

And so the Saturday before school starts, the foundation actually works with the optimists and we provide a new pair of shoes, underwear, socks.

She's since relocated.

at her church out in Del Paso Heights in Sacramento.

And she started what's now called Sea to Skillet Gardening Program and supports foster youth, which she is a foster mom herself, foster youth in the Sacramento area in Sacramento.

in learning how to grow food and the importance of nutrition.

So that's what happened.

And when my grandmother was walking me down the street, we had a little boxcar we lived in, in Del Paso Heights.

And it was up on cement blocks.

My mother bought it for $200 from this guy.

He started talking to the captain of the police and they were negotiating whatever.

I don't know what it was, but they were trying to stop the people from throwing bottles at the police.

So then we all got in the cars and we caravaned out to Del Paso Heights.

And we broke up and I'm trying to find out what the hell do these Panthers have? I found out they had one pistol, a .38 with two bullets.
