Long time DeKalb County, Georgia prosecutor.

Not just the prosecutor, the district attorney in DeKalb County.

Helped prosecute some of the most incredible cases, you probably heard about them in the news.

He has practiced in the private sector, in the public sector.

And the wild ride he takes you on is not only riveting, it's legal and true crime drama, but he is such a good storyteller, and you see why he wins in the courtroom.

J. Tom, I've said too much because people just wanna hear from you.

Can you give us a little bit of a preview of your amazing career and how you became the DA of DeKalb County?

It's open on Tuesdays to the public.

We serve Gwinnett and DeKalb counties out of that.

And then we partner with the Atlanta Community Food Bank and do mobile food pantry services as well, and we rotate locations for them.

and you identified something, obviously you have a heart for service, and you put that into action.

With Hilton now in custody, police look for evidence that links him to the murders of John and Irene Bryant, Cheryl Dunlap, and Meredith Emerson.

We had DeKalb County transport him to our headquarters, which is in DeKalb County, in a conference room in GBI headquarters.

When I first walked into the conference room, Gary was lying on the floor in a fetal position and kept saying that he had multiple sclerosis and he needed an immediate shot of folic acid and just kind of talking crazy.

Clay Bridges had actually laid down on the floor with him and talked to him for a few minutes.

Ended up being an extremely successful effort.

DeKalb County, our county, one of the highest turnout in the state and critical for Democrats now every election cycle.

You were doing that during the Trump first midterm.

What were you hearing through the field operation about Georgians and their relationship to the president? Wow.

I went to Chapel Hill Middle School in Douglasville.

Then I went to Stevenson High School in DeKalb County.

And travel ball was like NGBA, USA Showcase, all these exposure, all these big time teams.

And then my junior year, I stopped playing basketball and football, just focused on baseball.

We believe the type of constructive dialogue we have engaged in should serve as an example to the type of dialogue that must occur in communities throughout the nation.

while much work remains to be done to address many long-standing issues and challenges not only within the field of law enforcement but also within the broader criminal justice system this experience has demonstrated to us that americans are by nature problem solvers it is our hope that the recommendations included here will meaningfully contribute to our nation's efforts to increase trust between law enforcement and the communities they protect and serve Charles H.
