Deir Alla inscription

So Bil'am is not talking to God, or he doesn't think that he's talking to God.

He's addressing whoever it is that he usually addresses, which from the Deir Allah inscription we know is Shamgar and Ishtar.

But it's God who talks back to him, right? So if I read this now, it says, Elohim came to Bil'am.

Elohim said, who are these men who are with you? Part of the thing that's irritating.
