Definitely Maybe

You'd be like, "Oh, I'm chucking my copy of Definitely Maybe away 'cause Kurt Ballou's got his hands on this-

... shitty band who are ruining loads of Britpop songs." But anyway, so already you're like, "Yes, this is great." And I think after two albums that, um, people had sort of, not ignored, because I think people, you know...

Oh.

Um, I remember our Andrew giving me Definitely Maybe for my birthday.

Mm.

And I must've been 10-

but then being thoroughly obsessed with that, and that being very formative for me.

Yeah, yeah.

So maybe Definitely Maybe-

But I also think that timing has something to do with this as well, because think about its year of release, 1994, especially in their native Britain.

It was all about Britpop and, you know, there was a lot of attention being paid to records like Blur's Parklife, Oasis' Definitely Maybe, Suede's Dogman Star, Pulp His and Hers, etc.

And that led to a lot of great music getting lost in the shuffle because, I mean, I will tell you, you can't have a Knees Up.

proper to hex by bark psychosis but i think it's one of those records that is going to continue to be elevated in esteem and find new audiences but they're estimating that sales for this album over the course of 30 years or about 40 000 albums which is no slouch but i mean it's certainly not setting the world on fire so yeah i'm going number four hex by bark psychosis wow

Really, you could kind of play it slower and it would be Porter's Head.

Like maybe, you know, I think about like say Oasis and the cover of Definitely Maybe and it's got like Bert Bacharach on it.

It's like a kind of referencing or not even referencing the acknowledgement of our history with these songs that actually kind of colours the music of the era.

Okay.

It opens their debut album like a self-fulfilling prophecy, and within weeks, they were.

They never said I should feed my head.

I know that there's a lot of people out there who would enjoy it, but for me, I want to be able to sit down with and kind of digest and appreciate a lot of the albums and everything.

So for me, I can't imagine starting with track one of Definitely Maybe and going all the way to the end of Dig Out Your Soul in a Single Day.

I almost did it last night before we did this finale.

One other thing about Oasis's music is, and this is not an insult, this is just an observation, a lot of it sounds very samey.

Now that we've had time to reflect on each one.

We're going to go over our thoughts about each album.

Starting with 1994's Definitely Maybe.

One of the best debut albums in rock music.

I'll be watching that myself.

I was about 17 when Definitely Maybe came out, so it kind of grabbed us back in the UK when they came out.

Great band.

And I suppose I'll just have one final whinge.
