Issues that Affect Retired Military Personnel The most immediate retiree issue this week is the scheduled Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System outage that began at 9 p.m.

ET on October 9, 2026 and was expected to continue through October 11.

DEERS supports military benefit eligibility records for service members, retirees, civilians, and eligible family members.

During the outage, beneficiaries cannot update their records, and healthcare providers or pharmacies may be unable to verify TRICARE eligibility through normal electronic processes.

The Defense Manpower Data Center scheduled the interruption while moving DEERS to a new cloud environment.

Tricare warned that systems relying on DEERS could also be affected.
