You get the two Steves, which means, yes, it's all about the beast that is the priest.
Steven MichaelGUEST
2:12
And tonight, Stevo, we are covering what I would consider the pinnacle of Judas Priest catalog, because this is pretty much where I come into the picture with screaming for vengeance and defenders of the faith.
Steven MichaelGUEST
2:28
Are you excited about this one? Because I know I am.
Steve WrightHOST
2:31
I am.
Steven MichaelGUEST
3:39
It was very similar with me on ACDC because it was Back in Black and Highway to Hell almost at the same time because both records were out.
Steven MichaelGUEST
3:52
So it was sort of the same with Priest.
Steven MichaelGUEST
3:55
For me, that trilogy of Priest, even though they weren't in a row, was British Steel screaming for vengeance, defenders of the faith.
Steven MichaelGUEST
4:06
I didn't end up, as we've talked about in the past on this two by two series, getting point of entry because I'd heard so many bad things about it.
RobHOST
38:16
Yes.
RobHOST
38:17
Craig and I have been talking about doing a concert episode, and we saw Judas Priest on the Defenders of the Faith tour at NASA Coliseum, and we remember fireworks being thrown.
RobHOST
38:25
But a couple months later, they played Madison Square Garden.
RobHOST
38:28
I believe it was June 18th, 1984.
PaulHOST
84:04
give you.
JoshHOST
84:05
Defenders of the Faith.
JoshHOST
84:06
Yeah, it's Defenders of the Faith.
JoshHOST
84:08
Number eight.
JoshHOST
84:10
Number ten is another classic metal album.
DougHOST
12:10
bit of a high bar but yeah you could be right
TimHOST
12:13
yeah so then on the on the uh on electric eye the next song is not um heading out to the highway it's locked in which is another mid-tempo turbo track So it's like, if I were there, you know, I'm loving Defenders of the Faith and Screaming for Vengeance, and I come and they play two mid-tempo songs to open, I'd be pissed.
DougHOST
12:41
And what was the
TimHOST
12:42
actual set list
Chad FergerstromHOST
55:12
I
Marco MinnemannGUEST
55:13
think Rusty Bones was pretty close It's not Defenders of the Faith, isn't it?
Chad FergerstromHOST
55:17
It's not Defenders of the Faith, although great record.
Chad FergerstromHOST
55:20
I could have picked Y&T Black Tiger or Earthshaker from Y&T, but I didn't go down the Y&T road.
Chad FergerstromHOST
55:27
Whitesnake?
Mike WilesHOST
3:03
Justin was on a couple of years ago and we deep dived into the new wave of British heavy metal.
Mike WilesHOST
3:09
And then Joey was on to talk about Defenders of the Faith.
Mike WilesHOST
3:13
And he's got another great Rush tribute band.
Mike WilesHOST
3:15
He's in Dreamline, which is fantastic.
AnthonyHOST
13:57
Let's see what the hula gang is listening to.
AnthonyHOST
14:00
From YouTube, at JoePampleMoose82322 is listening to ACDC PowerEdge and Judas Priest, Defenders of the Faith.
AnthonyHOST
14:09
And according...
AnthonyHOST
14:11
Joe, according to Father Rocco, if you're listening to Judas Priest, you should be listening to Iron Maiden.
RobHOST
21:13
I listened to it.
RobHOST
21:14
A couple of songs jumped out at me, but it was just not like listening to Peace of Mind or Defenders of the Faith or Bark of the Moon or whatever.
CraigHOST
21:21
Nothing grabs
RobHOST
21:21
you, really.
Dayton JohnsonGUEST
15:25
Yes.
Def DaveHOST
15:25
Uh, I, I had, uh, Van Allen Placeko on early this season talking Defenders of the Faith with-
Dayton JohnsonGUEST
15:30
Right
Def DaveHOST
15:31
... uh, from Judas Priest.
Uncle SteveHOST
41:09
I'm thinking same class and, um, sad wings of destiny are both just fantastic albums too.
Uncle SteveHOST
41:15
So they're really up there in the list for me now, but screaming for vengeance defenders of the faith.
Uncle SteveHOST
41:21
Um, I listened to turbo and I enjoyed most of it.
Uncle SteveHOST
41:25
I'll, I'll tell you what, one thing about turbo I thought was funny is, is the song that I call the absolute worst song on the album.
MattHOST
42:36
bad
Uncle SteveHOST
42:37
but yeah turbo then i ran i just went in order i was like once i got to screaming for vengeance because i skipped those three albums that they all have good songs point of entry has a couple two or three good songs and you know um british steel has quite a few good songs but there's some major major just drops in quality from one song to the other every now and then on those albums Saint Class, Sin After Sin, and Sad Wings don't really have much of that.
Uncle SteveHOST
43:05
Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders of the Faith really don't have that at all, other than the way Defenders kind of ends on a weaker note.
Uncle SteveHOST
43:11
Turbo obviously has a couple of weak spots, and it is a weaker album overall.
