Brandi CyrusHOST

The leaves are beautiful.
Brandi CyrusHOST
33:37
And I stayed up in Deer Valley, which typically is fucking outrageous during ski season.
Brandi CyrusHOST
33:41
And I can never afford to stay there because it's off season.
Brandi CyrusHOST
33:44
We actually got a pretty good price at a hotel up there.
Brandi CyrusHOST
34:13
Matt and I both said it was the best dessert we have ever had.
Wells AdamsHOST
34:16
okay
Brandi CyrusHOST
34:17
it was incredible like i would go all the way back up to deer valley to that hotel to have that dessert anytime i'm in park city
Wells AdamsHOST
34:23
all right that's
Sam WeintraubGUEST
9:53
If you go on a week-long trip, they pay off with just one mountain.
Sam WeintraubGUEST
9:58
So for a lot of people, if you don't care whether you're going to Vail or Deer Valley or Park City or Alta, like...
Sam WeintraubGUEST
10:08
if you're just going to one of those, then it doesn't really matter.
Sam WeintraubGUEST
10:11
Um, and you, you don't have a strong preference as to which one you want to go to.
Jennifer ScherowskiHOST
34:22
Mad River Glen, Alta, we see you.
Jennifer ScherowskiHOST
34:25
Deer Valley.
Jennifer ScherowskiHOST
34:26
What the? And then Tao started allowing snowboarding in 2008.
Jennifer ScherowskiHOST
34:31
So they, you know, they finally saw they needed snowboarders probably.
Brian StarckGUEST
55:48
Yeah, it's, that stuff just gets me fired up.
David HaukHOST
55:52
I find it a lot easier to ride the chairlifts at Deer Valley.
Brian StarckGUEST
55:57
For sure.
Brian StarckGUEST
55:57
For sure.
Stuart WinchesterHOST
17:31
So at that point, Dennis, you're going to have Cindy's will be a 37-year-old fixed-rip quad, right? This chair you take out.
Stuart WinchesterHOST
17:39
And Holiday Valley, more than almost any other ski area that I'm aware of in the country, the only other one that's... done this nearly as much as deer Valley has been really, really good about either repurposing your lifts on your own slopes or selling them to other ski areas.
Stuart WinchesterHOST
17:59
And, and I, you did an inventory for me last year and it was eight skis, lifts that had gone on to other ski areas and you said they were in in chile and you and that's the uh corralco lift the the old mardi gras one new york mass that's catamount's catamount quad and that was the old yodler that 20 year old yodler cindy's double went up to ragged and is now retired And then the Schoolhouse Double went to Four Seasons.
Stuart WinchesterHOST
18:26
That's unfortunately now a closed ski area.
Mike KazimerHOST
16:05
Yeah.
Mike KazimerHOST
16:06
I guess in the, in the women, were there any other stories? I guess we had, I mean, Valley took it for them.
Mike KazimerHOST
16:10
Gracie's second.
Mike KazimerHOST
16:11
It was cool.
Mike KazimerHOST
16:19
But, uh, I mean, second place is sweet too.
Mike KazimerHOST
16:21
Like at least she put down a solid result.
Dario DiGiulioHOST
16:23
By a really tight margin considering how dominant Valley's been.
Dario DiGiulioHOST
16:26
Like that's a, a really, really respectable position to be in.
Stuart WinchesterHOST
21:04
So I don't know what's driving all of this because these are really the only lifts that Vail has announced yet for next year.
Stuart WinchesterHOST
21:13
And I don't know why... park city is getting so much money i it could be because deer valley right next door has essentially tripled in size and has put up a dozen high-speed lifts or whatever it is in the past three years so they may be trying to make sure they're keeping up with park city i think they already or i'm sorry deer valley i think park city already has a really big lead on deer valley because a the terrain is better and b they get more snow and c they allow snowboarders And they have all that cool mining stuff, those relics sitting around the thing.
Stuart WinchesterHOST
21:52
And you can ski to downtown, which is great.
Stuart WinchesterHOST
21:55
So I think Park City already is advantageous.

12 MINS LATER

Stuart WinchesterHOST
34:00
That's why you move to Vail is to ski Vail.
Stuart WinchesterHOST
34:03
So given the population pressures in mountain towns, the fact that more people, not fewer, are moving there, I think that you will continue to see – where I think that Vail has found their floor as far as the locals go, because in most cases, there's not really a handy alternative.
Stuart WinchesterHOST
34:26
I mean, I guess in Park City, but Deer Valley's season pass is $4,000.
Stuart WinchesterHOST
34:32
All the Cottonwood season passes are $1,000, right? So Park City, you get the biggest ski resort in America for the price of an Epic Pass, which started at a little over $1,000.
Erin WalkerGUEST
25:23
Mudrooms here are also really fun to kind of show a little bit of fun personality.
Erin WalkerGUEST
25:29
Maybe it's really pulling in the aspects of Deer Valley into that mudroom or vintage posters or things that are unique.
Erin WalkerGUEST
25:36
I try to pull things that are very regional as well.
Erin WalkerGUEST
25:39
Maybe not just Utah, but it's the Mountain West.
Kyle UnfugHOST
11:35
I'll keep you posted if he gets roped in.
Johnjay Van EsHOST
11:38
My wife and I have some friends that have a timeshare in Utah, in Deer Valley.
Johnjay Van EsHOST
11:43
And they love it.
Kyle UnfugHOST
11:45
They do? They actually use it?
Kyle UnfugHOST
5:09
I'll keep you posted if he gets roped in.
Johnjay Van EsHOST
5:11
My wife and I have some friends that have a timeshare in Utah, in Deer Valley, and they love it.
Kyle UnfugHOST
5:18
They do? They actually use it?
Johnjay Van EsHOST
5:20
They use it, and I guess you could trade weeks with people or something like that, so if it doesn't work out for you, but they love it.
