Deepwater Horizon

I think that's generous, but there you have it.

Deepwater Horizon with Mark Wahlberg and Kurt Russell.

You know what? I, I love this movie, and it's got a really solid critic score, 83%.

Only made like 120-something million dollars at the box office.

Aaron Eckhart was great in it as well, and obviously it's the great Tom Hanks.

Uh, that one stands out to me obviously.

Deepwater Horizon is a movie that I, I don't know why it didn't get more attention.

I really don't.

Blue.

Deepwater Horizon.

That's a great movie.

That's good.

And, you know, they're not vehicles for her, but they show her wanting to be an actor rather than movie star.

And when she has gone back into the mainstream, like with Deepwater Horizon, the only good Peter Berg movie that he ever made.

um marshall or glass onion they're all in supporting but they do speak to more of a selectivity and knowing what works for her uh because she's gotten praise for all of them um i'm not touching music i was about to say you're you're missing one of them nope you're forgetting golden globe nominated performance in music uh should have been meryl streep's nomination for the prom which also is not a good film but only better by for grading on a curve than music But for me, this nomination is the recognition and the acknowledgement from her peers regarding the work that she's done in breaking away from that star vehicle, fluffy rom-com screen image and this performance, not the nomination, but the performance is the culmination of that for me.

Beyond that, I'm just, I'm a sucker, I'm a softie, but I'm always drawn to underdogs in terms of nominations.

If anybody's listening, hasn't, uh, hasn't seen, um, the movie Deepwater Horizon about the oil rig disaster, if you like movies that have very, very big explosions in, you need to see Deepwater Horizon.

But unlike most disaster movies where, I don't know, there's a volcano under Los Angeles for no particularly good reason, um, Deepwater Horizon, you see the entire backstory of the culture going wrong.

You see the corporate malfeasance.

You see the greed.

I mean, it doesn't even necessarily have to be like a fictional movie.

I mean, you do get the Peter Berg films every so often, like Patriot's Day or Deepwater Horizon, that star Mark Wahlberg, and it's like they're attempted doing one of those, but no one else is really touching it.

Michael Bay, what, he did the Benghazi movie? That was 10 years ago now.

So, I don't know.

Right.

Patriot's Day, Mile 22, Deepwater Horizon.

Yeah, because...

They had had Lone Survivor in 2013.

He's never worked hard or anything in his life.

Yeah.

And then when I saw Deepwater Horizon, I was like...
