Decrepit car

It was in 2008 and 2009.

And I'm talking about the CARS program, which was labeled more succinctly Cash for Clunkers.

And I know that a lot of you, some of you anyway, are a little younger than I am.

At least I hope so.

And, uh, if it was good or not.

Here's what it was.

2009, it's called Car Allowance Rebate System, CARS, or as it says here, popularly known as Cash for Clunkers.

I can remember working at a car dealer while this was going on, and kind of, you know, not loosely keeping track of what's going on.

The ladies collapse on the couch looking exhausted.

Outside, the captain is shown honking the horn on the Jalopy.

The captain says that he and Mrs.

Gravely are in the car market and he thinks this one is a beauty.

We're still plenty far enough away from the track where you won't have dust or any of that stuff, but it'll be just a little bit closer for walking distance-wise.

So for the people who don't know, you want to explain jalopy racing?

Jalopy racing, I guess, is what I consider their old Model As and flathead Fords.

You know, a lot of the guys like Jim DeSoto in Illinois, he said, you know, like 1935 and older cars.

And then 1953, an older drivetrain.

It was chained to his body.

Randy Shoemake was like, "Go take that in your Jalopy." [laughs]

Um, but you did have the Wii remote, and being able to just be at home and, like, use this thing to, like- ... point at stuff on your television was just inherently fun.

Yeah.

And next week, the genres are punk, psychobilly, 80s alternative, and soul.
