And y'all, it is an album we will return to for many years to come.

Expert writing, assuasive melodies, expert performance.

Y'all, I- this was such a pleasure.

I'm feeling really good to bring this episode to you.

I'm sitting on the back porch of my Airbnb in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, about to go to Jason Isbell's Shoals Fest and see Jason and the Drive-By Truckers play their legendary record Decoration Day in its entirety.

I'm hanging out with friends.

More power to you.

So I just read about this epic reunion concert of the drive-by truckers, and they played their album Decoration Day in full after nearly 20 years.

Wait, seriously? That's amazing.

Decoration Day is such a powerful album, especially with its themes of class struggle and family trauma.

Right, Patterson Hood kicked it off with such energy, trading his acoustic for a heavy Gibson SG.

It's like he was channeling all that history.

Exactly.

It's all about using those lessons to push for change in our own communities.

So first track was The Deeper Inn by the Drive-By Truckers.

It's their opening track off their album, Decoration Day, released in 2003.

Great album.

I believe that's probably my favorite by them.
