Declaration of Geneva

It says, "It is our professional opinion, based upon previous and ongoing assessments, that Donald Trump's mental state since our 2024 statement has deteriorated even further.

In keeping with our professional ethics, and for those of us who are physicians with the Declaration of Geneva, the successor to the Hippocratic Oath that binds us to the humanitarian principles of medicine since the Nuremberg trials, we are compelled to warn of a president of the United States who is increasingly a danger to the public.

Objectively observable signs of serious medical concerns include marked deterioration in cognitive function, evidenced by disorganized and tangential speech, rambling digressions, factual confusion, unexplained sudden changes of course in strategic matters both nationally and internationally, episodes of apparent somnolence, sleeping, during critical public proceedings.

Grandiose and delusional beliefs, including assertions of infallibility, imagery of himself as pope, suggestive of a divine m- mission, being a mythical warrior hero, depicting himself as a combat pilot dropping feces on civilians, and claims that his decision-making authority is unlimited with no need to cons- with no need to consider domestic and international laws, and only constrained by his own morality.

Exactly.

The critical testable shift happens with the Geneva Declaration and the Helsinki Declaration.

OK.

And here's a trap I see residents fall into all the time.

They get mixed up constantly.

The easiest way to differentiate them is by looking at their specific purpose and their historical context.

So the Geneva Declaration was adopted by the World Medical Association in 1948, and it was most recently amended in 2006.

But think about that original year, 1948.

The Goldwater Rule is an insignificant rule that only the APA adopted.

If you're a non-member, it doesn't really apply, but they had stated it in public as if it were more important than public safety, more important than the World Medical Association's Geneva Declaration, which was instituted after the experience of Nazism, which actually prohibits us from a line with a dangerously destructive government and obligates us to speak up.

So for members of the audience who are hearing this for the first time, it will be very unfamiliar information, and for many it would be very uncomfortable and disturbing information because they have been told otherwise for so long in public.

But again, my hope is that since knowledge is power, and fear comes from lack of knowledge, that the more information they gain, the more they will recognize that there's more that they can do, that the power actually, there's greater power that lies in them far more than they are led to believe.
