God, we played that three years ago.

Yeah, you can...

You know, they even recommend, I think, that, like, if you really are already, you know, a board gamer, you know deck building, you can kind of jump to year four or whatever.

Yeah, it says in the rule book, you know, hey, if you've played this before, you're familiar with these games, start at year four.

But I love that idea of...

I love that.

But I still do like the original game here, especially with the different – I think there's like six different maps you can play now with different various things that happen.

And running down – this was one of the first – Deck Building came out in 2008, and a lot of Deck Building games were very similar.

Ascension had the river, but they all were get stuff, maybe attack somebody.

I like to experiment.

And so another path that one could take, either in parallel or separately from a highly competitive path, is just getting into things like deck building.

I think especially Pokemon, if I think about all the other games that I have played, and I know for you as well, I think Pokemon is a very rewarding game for a deck builder.

If that's something that really you enjoy, and you enjoy coming up with new interesting combinations and cards, Pokemon doesn't have any restrictions on which types of cards you can put in a deck.

In what universe did Blaziken and Dragobolt EX ever enter the testing room together? Never.

Never.

I do think there is something about card games with deck building, and so try your hand.

Again, live, such a good way to practice deck building, right? Because you can basically, for free, you don't have to actually own the cards, figure out that in terms of deck building but do not be afraid to net deck you know Pokemon did supply a code for after the world championships oh my gosh where is it i think it was play pokemon um they supplied a code for the world championships that if you want to go play pokemon tcg live right now but maybe you're new into pokemon tcg live you can type in the code champ build 26 to get andrew hedrick's exact deck list or actually i think it gives you all three of the decks that won the uh pokemon world championships in the different divisions so um there's already great decks to start out with but just because you get that deck when you net deck it's not about the deck itself it's about the pilot piloting that deck right the deck will certainly get you in a situation to have a good start But to be able to actually be a good player, it's not about the 60 cards most of the time.

Yeah, so one of my favorite games to play, both on my iPad and whenever I get the chance in the real world, it's called Star Realms.

And if you've played it, you already know it's a gateway deck builder.

It was designed by Robert Dougherty and Darwin Castle.

It was published by Wise Wizard, and it's been republished in many of the languages.

You could potentially play it at higher player counts, but it's predominantly and almost entirely played as a head-to-head game.

If you've played or heard of Magic the Gathering, understand that that's a deck creation game where you create your deck, your forming deck, before you play.

Star Realms is a deck builder, so you start with a basic deck of cards, and then you'll acquire more cards, and you'll build your deck during play it's set in space as you might guess from the name star realms and your goal is to get your opponent's authority down to zero first person to do that wins on your turn you'll draw five cards from the deck into your hand you'll use the gold to buy more cards there's just a row of cards in the middle of the table and you'll use the attack points to attack typically your opponent's health But you can also try to fire at some of their bases or other cards that they might have played.

As you cycle through your deck, you'll be seeing your better cards more frequently.
