Decapolis

They were strictly a party to try to keep the Herods on the throne.

Now we find here, as we come to this chapter, that background, let me read, "...then came together unto him the Pharisees and certain of the scribes which came from Jerusalem." Now, you'll notice that the impression that our Lord has made on Jerusalem has brought these men out of Jerusalem to the place where he was ministering in Galilee, and also it will take them across the Jordan River into the area of Decapolis, that is, where there were ten cities.

We'll see that in a moment.

Now verse 2, "...and when they saw some of the disciples eat bread with defile, that is to say with unwashing hands, they found fault.

And our Lord answered her petition.

And the question arises, did he really come to that area for the specific purpose of answering the faith of this woman? Now, in verse 31, and again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, you see, he's been out of the country now.

He came under the Sea of Galilee through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.

Now, Decapolis is really translated ten cities.

So from Israel, let's head to Jordan.

So we're going to go into Jerash, the Twin Theaters, and the Decapolis here.

Yeah, so Jerash is a really amazing set of ruins.

It gets overlooked because it's in Jordan and everybody thinks of all the stuff around the Asia Minor kind of Mediterranean area.

Within it.

So it has a large southern theater seating around 3,000, and then it had a smaller northern city theater because it was...

Jerash at the time in that kind of area in the Decapolis was huge.

So Gerasa was one of the cities of the Decapolis.

Jewish people don't have pigs.

This is actually part of an area called Decapolis.

It's an area that's settled by Greek and Roman people and other people that are non-Jewish, okay? And the herdsmen, verse 14, ran away and reported it in the city and out in the country, and people came to see what had happened.

And they came to Jesus and observed the man who had been demon-possessed sitting down, clothed and in his right mind, the very man who had the legion, and they became frightened.

Don't bring, no, don't.

Jesus did not let him, but he said, go to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you and how he has shown mercy on you.

And he went away and began to proclaim in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him and everyone marveled.

Now, Rhett, I want you to notice something about this.

How be it Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, go home to thy friends and tell them how great things the Lord had done for thee and hath had compassion on thee.

And he departed and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him.

And all men did marvel.

And it is a marvel, a wonder.

And she went home and found the child lying in bed and the demon gone.

Then he returned from the region of Tyre and went through Sidon to the Sea of Galilee in the region of the Decapolis.

And they brought to him a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment, and they begged him to lay his hand on him.

And taking him aside from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears and after spitting touched his tongue.

But I believe that the Lord is saying, do not fear the storm.

What is Decapolis? It's this word about 10 cities, Burning it's this word symbolically of ten cities burning Simultaneously in the midst of this and I believe this is being Propagated it's being planned is something that's coming forward But I see in the midst of all this chaos in the midst of all of it.

I see something dramatic coming dramatic coming from heaven I see something very dramatic coming from heaven and And this dramatic thing that's coming from heaven is going to begin to upset things for darkness.

It's not going to make it easy for darkness.

This invasion of revival is going to begin to collide.

with the storm of the century.

It's going to collide with Decapolis.

It's going to collide with a grid narrative and all the things that are coming.
