Today on The Rescue Lab, I sit down with John Becker from The Debrief to talk about what he's learned studying some of the world's highest performing teams.

We get into why culture has to be built intentionally, how elite organizations prepare for high-risk, low-frequency events.

and why putting people under stress in training matters long before the call comes in.

John, people know you from The Debrief, but why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself, your background, and how you came to lead one of the most respected cultural leadership podcasts in America.

So I started business at 17 while I'm in high school, transitioning to college.

I'm going to start doing these weekly now.

I'm going to call it the Monday Debrief.

Since we do our reaction pods right after the game and we don't do our main pod until midweek and it drops into the week as we prepare you for the next game, I kind of want to do a pod where I'm giving y'all my take on everything 24 hours a day.

You can always be emotional during the game or after the game, whether it's a win or a loss.

So where I'm going with this is if you're, Your story about Marquet and this captain who understands aviation CRM, it's all kind of converging, right? It's peak performance.

How do we learn from other disciplines? Because, again, going through my experience and reading Turn the Ship Around and, you know, at the time I was doing some other work with another organization on Plan Brief, Execute, Debrief.

We already were like, yeah, we get it, man.

I don't understand why anybody else doesn't get it.
