Um, without trying to like, you know, latch on to sounding like any other band or anything like that so yeah man we just after we record and everything we kind of just let mike do his thing and uh there's not too much back and forth with it because he's just got it yeah he's kind of the god of that uh that uh part of everything so we just like let him do what he wants to

We did like a guest list thing the other week where, you know, we went in on modern production when it comes to Deathcore.

What are your thoughts on how Deathcore sounds right now?

Right now, I mean, I think it's like all over the place, honestly, because you have like... bands who have been doing it for 10-15 years who have you know typically had more modern production you have this wave of like the myspace dudes coming back who have the raw gritty stuff um i think it's pretty cool man there's a bunch of cool sounding bands out there right now you have you know obviously the more the super modern like heavy hitter guys like disembodied tyrant and like synestia those guys like really heavy, but super clean modern production.

I think the Poetic Etta EP is probably one of the best sounding records I've ever heard, honestly.

Yeah, man, it's like... it's like all death core but like just slightly different variations because you have like the tracheotomy is like the real like myspacey stuff and like squelching and backbiter kind of have the beat down like hardcore pissed off thing going on a lot um yeah i mean i declare war and amion they have like the og shit and i think Like, even us and To The Grave are, like, two different versions of Deathcore, so...

So we've been co-headlining for a long-ass time.

Anyways, I do think it helps make all like, you know, what what's the saying like something high tides raise all ships or whatever the fuck it is i definitely think that's true to a point um but On the flip side, not everything needs to be big and have a lot of exposure and be consumed by the masses.

And I think this is where my opinions and philosophies of deathcore show up.

Deathcore is a subgenre of hardcore.

There's no way around it.

But the truth was that these accusations were largely fueled by fear of change and a resistance to metal's aggressive aesthetic.

The sound laid out in Age of Quarrel directly informed later albums like Killswitch Engage's Alive or Just Breathe and even early Deathcore acts.

The structure of the tracks, short, punchy, riff-heavy songs with shouted choruses, became a formula adopted across dozens of bands worldwide.

That's why when you listen to a modern metalcore band, there's always an invisible line that goes back to that first cheap pressing record from 1986.
