Like, not being overly dramatic, but it really could.

Yeah, yeah.

Uh, another great example is, um, my first visit to Kenya.

Um, I was able to, uh, go with a supplier, and, uh, I had met the supplier at an IGLTA show, at the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association.

And I said, "Well, I, I can't go to Kenya.

Kenya is, is again, uh, hostile towards our community." And she goes, "Oh, well, on paper it is, but in reality it's okay." I said, "Well, before I send any of my clients, I need to experience it firsthand." And she says-

Mm-hmm

I'm, I'm really impressed by her story and, and what she represents for us as a nation.

Yeah, I'm, I'm glad you brought up all of this, but, uh, but the, the issue about her changing her name, which I think is, is just such a great psychological event in that it created some distance so that she could then talk about herself, and she could talk about her family, and she could talk about that fraught, uh, relationship she had with her mother, and that distant relationship she had with her father, and the problematic relationship w- she had with her brothers.

But she could create that distance by giving herself a different name, and I just thought, you know, that, that was brilliant.

It was absolutely brilliant.

But the other thing you said, sir, about her style, I, I don't know of any other writer who has a style like hers.

Uh, and that's what, that's what I was attracted to as a writing professor and as a reader and somebody who wanted to engage somebody with these ideas.

I mean, I, uh, one of the questions I'm gonna ask her wa- is, you know, that essay, Girl, which is taught in schools all over the world, that's, that whole essay is just one sentence long.

Dean Nelson, would you like to talk a little bit about the others that you have coming into that speaker series? Because really in Global I Am, we're about the general humanity, um, of, of who we are, and I know that that's something that you emphasize inside of your speaker series as well.
