Bill Denbrough essentially projects his consciousness out of his body, hurtling through the cosmos until he confronts the true incomprehensible form of Pennywise, which is known as the Deadlights.

The Deadlights, right.

The ritual involves the two combatants psychically biting down on each other's tongues and telling jokes.

Wait, telling jokes?

Another one, Chismar edited it called Deadlights, and it's going to come out.

But I wrote about this in Deadlights in that book of essays.

But essentially, I had the worst body image possible.

possible, the worst body issues possible, the most self-loathing and shame and pain and constantly ridiculed, constantly physically and emotionally bullied and verbally bullied throughout my seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth grade.

So instead of eating her like a normal victim, IT subjects her to something far worse.

It exposes her to its true, unfiltered macroversal form, the Deadlights.

We have to unpack the Deadlights, because this is one of the most abstract concepts in the lore.

What exactly is happening mechanically when someone looks into them?

Well, the Deadlights are not magic.

They are the true physical essence of the Entity as it exists in the macroverse, peeking through into our dimension.

Imagine trying to force the entirety of a raging ocean through a garden hose.
