Dead Kennedys

Well,

speaking of just injuries, right, and the bands that went with the machine and promoted COVID, you know, there's this cat, Jello Biafra, former singer, frontman for the Dead Kennedys.

Dude, he was like, you need the shot, the shot.

Well, on March 7th, 2006, 26, he suffered a hemorrhagic stroke.

They on Sunday afternoons, they had the show where they would play more fringe music, you know, a lot of new wave and And, you know, they would slip in some punk rock.

So that's like the first time that I heard bands like Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys.

And I was just like, I was fascinated by that music.

I was like, you know, this is really, you know, blew my mind playing that fast and hearing bands like DRI, you know, the really fast stuff.

We got it, boys.

Dead Kennedys.

And someone in the band said, yeah, and there's

a lot more of them that are going to die.

So the reason I said this song is because when people were saying that they hate California and people say they hate Florida is because of the amount of homeless people there.

So I was like, hey, let's play Kill the Poor by Dead Kennedys.

So that explains that.

I read that they're even going into Beverly Hills, the homeless account.

I decided the next one should be thinner, with a lower cover price, and that it should come out quicker and hopefully be more contemporary as a result.

I secured an interview with the Dead Kennedys, whose first single had served revelatory notice that there was Gasp, a punk rock scene in America other than New York.

That single, California Uber Alice, with its attacks on a Governor Jerry Brown, was obviously a protest song, and presumably on the right side of that protest, i.e. the left.

But there was no need to study its lyrics in intense detail.

There was quite enough intensity in the music and the high-pitched wail of lead singer Jello Biafra.

It might have been possible to dismiss the Dead Kennedys as just a belated American impersonation of the Sex Pistols, a short-lived shock horror based on a deliberately provocative name, if the band hadn't signed to Cherry Red and delivered an equally vitriolic and voluminous follow-up.

The sleeve to that single, Holiday in Cambodia, showed someone at the front of a mob, presumably Cambodian given the song title, hitting someone else, also presumably Cambodian, with a chair, a rather pointless act given that the second presumed Cambodian was already hanging by his neck and appeared to all intents and purposes rather dead.

I knew vaguely that something horrible had been going on in Cambodia and that it may or may not have been connected to the Vietnam War.

Or maybe Broken Bones, Kraut, Battalion of Saints, Tales of Terror, and Subterfuge.

Or the lineup could have been Dead Kennedys, Fishbone, The Dicks, and SNFU.

In any case, after the concert, as Quinn and I were returning to his car, we noticed the passenger side front window of every parked car we walked past had been smashed in.

The sidewalk was covered in broken glass.
