And one of these became known as Wreck Bay, just south of Jervis Bay.

Wreck Bay was something like a maritime cul de sac.

Ships, particularly sailing ships, sailing north, hugging the coast, would suddenly find themselves in this bay.

And they then found they had no room to turn.

Where are you going to do it? Where can you do it? You know, you got to do it somewhere.
