Devon TaylorHOST
39:38
Because, yeah, it's just like, what is the point of doing all these extra glitchy, shifty stuff like that? And, yeah, this movie, it spends a lot more time in the daytime, and it's always washed out in those scenes.
Devon TaylorHOST
39:53
Like, the nighttime scenes actually do look pretty solid for the most part, and some of the interior scenes... look pretty decent but like they spend so much time in the daylight and it's always like looks like ass for some reason in this movie but let's talk about Danca Talos and company the the villains of this one again she kind of feels cut from the cunty cloth of Deacon Frost a little bit um she just kind of signed on she had no knowledge of the character no nothing but she kind of seems to be the one that uh only person that truly knows the movie that she's in in this movie she seems to be having the most fun out of everybody i think parker posey yeah i think parker
Garrett McDowellHOST
40:35
entertaining her design and her like makeup and everything it was just too much going on i love it She doesn't look like any other vampire in this whole series.
Garrett McDowellHOST
40:45
What's happening? It's giving very Party City kind of wig and everything.

7 MINS LATER

Devon TaylorHOST
48:18
Well, the plan that he
Garrett McDowellHOST
48:20
has is actually kind of fulfilling a deleted scene from the first movie where, okay, the vampires are going to kill all of humanity.
Garrett McDowellHOST
48:27
Well, if that happens, how are you going to have food? In a deleted scene in the first film, Deacon Frost was like, well, I'll have this fridge of dead people and I'll just kind of milk them, so to speak.
Garrett McDowellHOST
48:38
In this, they kind of develop it a little bit more to where like they're being kept alive and like stasis and just like they're they're like in a medically induced coma.
Alex SteedHOST
30:30
The, this is, "A lot of blood is wasted during the rave in Blade.
Alex SteedHOST
30:34
I get that yuppie vampires led by Deacon Frost don't care about wasting blood.
Alex SteedHOST
30:37
However, it seems like they'd have to ice skate uphill in order to throw a secret blood party inside a slaughterhouse and install a standalone sprinkler system that keeps blood from congealing in the hours before the vampire rave kicks off.
Alex SteedHOST
30:49
In honor of Blade and its generous wasting of cinematic blood, I decided to figure out how much of the red liquid came out of the sprinklers during the 75 seconds that it poured onto vampire dancers.
Kasai RichardsonGUEST
31:17
Just the wastefulness, that's the thing I can't get over.
Kasai RichardsonGUEST
31:19
[laughs]
Alex SteedHOST
31:20
[laughs] There's a guy who's played by Stephen Dorff, made De- named Deacon Frost, and- This is a tension that I recognize from the Christopher Nolan Batman movies, right? Where it's like there is some syndicate, and there's a younger v- there's younger syndicate members who are trying to do more, and there's older guy...
Alex SteedHOST
31:39
Whatever.
John WooliscroftHOST
8:40
So you could tell somebody who's reads all these comic books, you know, whether they're, you know, the old Tales from the Crypt ones or, or Monster comics or any, you know, more commercial things like, like Spider-Man or Batman, you know.
John WooliscroftHOST
8:51
He, he seems to really be drawn to these, like, fantastical stories of these larger than life characters, but obviously has a, a deep empathy for them.
John WooliscroftHOST
9:01
And I do want to mention his grandmother.
Brian CottingtonHOST
9:04
Okay.

23 MINS LATER

John WooliscroftHOST
31:49
I think it was still back when you could get physical disks from Netflix.
Brian CottingtonHOST
31:54
Mm.
John WooliscroftHOST
31:54
And I think I got Hellboy and Hellboy 2 in the mail, and I watched them, like, back to back and I'm like, "Okay, I, I really appreciate what I'm seeing here, but I'm having a hard time relating to the characters." So my, my relationship with the movie is, is personal.
John WooliscroftHOST
32:08
He didn't do anything wrong as a filmmaker, it's just not, it was just not my cup of tea.
Devon TaylorHOST
27:38
It one it kind of doesn't make sense because like Blade found Whistler in their lair like dead.
Devon TaylorHOST
27:43
So what like they left him there for Blade and then when Blade then goes after Deacon Frost they would then went back again to go get the body.
Devon TaylorHOST
27:54
to turn him like and then and then they've been just dragging him around different locations and i don't know i think i think uh they brought whistler back because you know they kind of wanted to uh show you know blades human side that like you know like that's still a part of him or whatever because that's a big part of you know his arc in this is interrogating you know his vampire side and how he feels and then this other race and then that makes the vampires feel a certain way i think we could have still done that without really needing um without needing to bring whistler back i think like the fact that whistler already existed in his life and then passed away would have been more motivation enough to already do that without having to just like for story contrivances and then like you know dampening the impact of the first movie I'm just like did we really need to do this and then that like somehow factored into all the different backstabbing that comes in later at the end of the movie that I find very kind of tedious.
Devon TaylorHOST
29:03
What do you think about the way we're reintroduced to Blade and them bringing Whistler back?

26 MINS LATER

Devon TaylorHOST
54:51
So cool.
Devon TaylorHOST
54:53
I think it's really fun.
Devon TaylorHOST
54:55
Like you said, he is definitely more formidable of an opponent than Deacon Frost ever was.
Devon TaylorHOST
55:02
I like the detail in this movie where during this fight, they're kind of going back and forth.
KM BestGUEST
100:51
We go.
KM BestGUEST
100:51
Deacon Frost or something like that?
Alex CocciaHOST
100:54
Vampire Deacon Frost.
Alex CocciaHOST
100:55
No, no, no, no, no, no.
Alex CocciaHOST
100:55
Hold on.
Alex CocciaHOST
100:57
Vampire Deacon Frost.
Alex CocciaHOST
100:58
My bad.
Alex CocciaHOST
100:59
Vampire Deacon Frost.
Kane GelaznikGUEST
13:27
I really only loved his one character, Christian Dorff.
Kane GelaznikGUEST
13:32
He was Deacon Frost in Blade.
Kane GelaznikGUEST
13:36
I was like, being a kid, I was like, oh, so this is what it's like when you grow up.
Kane GelaznikGUEST
13:40
You party on rooftops in New York City, and there's vampires, and everyone's listening to trip-hop, and they're swagged out.
Kane GelaznikGUEST
14:23
Isn't that a band? Oh, no, Zeromancer.
Kane GelaznikGUEST
14:25
Whatever.
Kane GelaznikGUEST
14:26
But, yeah, that's what I was obsessed with was, like, Deacon Frost and Dade Murphy were the things, the archetypes that I...
Kane GelaznikGUEST
14:35
So I guess I was into that kind of cool, edgy guy, alternative goth guy archetype.
Garrett McDowellHOST
1:06
[laughs]
Devon TaylorHOST
1:06
... unless you wanna be Deacon Frost, but he's pretty smarmy.
Devon TaylorHOST
1:09
I didn't wanna, like, call you, like, a smarmy, like, villain like him.
Devon TaylorHOST
1:12
And, and I also-
Garrett McDowellHOST
1:13
Yeah
Devon TaylorHOST
1:13
... like, wanna fuck Deacon Frost.
Devon TaylorHOST
1:14
I don't really wanna fuck you that bad, so, like, I wasn't gonna go there either.
Garrett McDowellHOST
1:17
Yeah, I don't wanna be, uh, emphasis on that bad.
JayHOST
20:17
If you're rebooting this, Blade does not have to start in, like, the 1980s or whatever, and his mom gets bitten by a vampire.
JayHOST
20:22
You don't have to do the Deacon Frost story.
JayHOST
20:24
I, I say do whatever you want as far as his, his origin.
JayHOST
20:27
He's an immortal.
JayHOST
24:31
Okay.
MicahHOST
24:31
And, and, and I think you could find an interesting conflict between, like, siblings until you've worked your way up to Dracula, right? Like, maybe Blade in the second movie kills Dracula's favorite kid or whatever.
JayHOST
24:48
Deacon Frost.
MicahHOST
24:49
And Dracula's like-
Sean MeehanHOST
4:53
Not Deacon Jones.
Sean MeehanHOST
4:54
Not Deacon Frost.
Sean MeehanHOST
4:55
Very good.
Sean MeehanHOST
4:56
A touch of frost.
Sean MeehanHOST
4:57
Fucking... just word association now that's the show
Conor LawlorHOST
5:04
but it's only you I didn't do anything I'm riffing Conor I say what kind of a riff is it if I say is it Deacon Jones and you then go on a ramble between Deacon Jones and Deacon Frost to a touch of frost and then go we're improv-ing baby
Sean MeehanHOST
5:21
Conor I have an infection alright everyone strap in this is going to be a long one please go on created in August of 2006 by Daniel Way and Steve Dillon, first appearing in Wolverine Origins No. 5.
Sean MeehanHOST
5:37
Born Akihiro, he was the son of Wolverine and a lady named Itsu.
DrewHOST
41:01
Yeah.
DrewHOST
41:02
That reminded me of Blade though, because Deacon Frost-
JamesHOST
41:05
