So what they're doing with this game is very similar to what Daybreak is doing with EverQuest Legends, which is the MMO that I am playing right now, which is the original EverQuest as it launched way back in the day, but with quality of life upgrades, and they're redesigning dungeons, and they're reworking the way the class system works.

And they are introducing new expansions and content, but they're not just going in the order that EverQuest did, where they're, like, doing the next expansion.

They're actually, like, bringing in some stuff from EverQuest 2, and they're bringing in a new zone that is, like, on the map, but it's not, it's never been playable before.

Yeah, like it does come down to when you have to consider that, like, are they at some point going to drop gaming? Are they just going to become Sony again? I mean, they cut SOE.

Remember Sony Online Entertainment? They just dropped that like a bad habit overnight.

Yeah.

So it does beg the question.

I have not been to a video game con in a long time.

I went to Sony Online Entertainment's whatever they had a long time ago when I played Star Wars Galaxies, but that was a long time ago.

A long time ago.

Obviously work conferences though, right? I imagine it's going to be a lot like a work conference, but more about things I care about.

There's an example in the book that I think is a great case study.

I spoke with a gentleman who was leading Sony Entertainment.

He was in Asia for a bit.

He was in the UK and then in the States.

I feel we maybe talked about this one on a past episode.

Cold Iron Studios showcased Alien Fireteam Elite 2, published by Daybreak Games Company for the Switch 2.

We talked about this recently as well.

It's a four-player co-op third-person shooter where colonial marines batter overwhelming xenomorph swarms, coming out on the 29th of September.

Um, just, Like the opportunities never presented themselves.

So I kind of went down the video production route, which eventually ended up me working at Daybreak Games on their media department.

right okay yeah that's interesting so you're in the military for a while yeah like 14 years in the navy how did video games sort of overlap with that time in the military did they were you know were they still a part of your life or

it's funny because they they weren't for the first half of my career um i i went i went to i went to the navy uh left for boot camp in 98 and um I didn't exactly grow up with a lot of money, so my parents couldn't afford to buy me that first era of PS1.
