Day of Arafa

this was reported by ibn adi from abu hurayrah and similarly by turmidhi from ali though it is noted to have some issues in its chain the prophet peace be upon him also said whoever performs hajj to this house and does not utter lewdness or sin he returns from his sins as the day his mother gave birth to him This was reported from Abu Huraira.

Satan is never seen smaller, more humiliated, more debased, or more enraged than on the day of Arafah.

This is due to the descent of mercy and Allah's forgiveness of great sins as it is said that some sins can only be expiated by standing at Arafah.

Jafar bin Muhammad attributed this to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

Some mystics narrated that Iblis, may the curse of Allah be upon him, appeared to one of them at Arafat looking emaciated and pale.

It means more than He can see them, and He can hear them, and He can answer their dua, right? But that Allah Azzawajal brings them closer to Him, and He draws closer to them, subhanahu wa ta'ala, right? And that one of the sifat, one of the attributes of Allah Azzawajal is that he gets closer.

When does Allah Azzawajal get closer to his believers? So for instance, we have the day of Arafah.

When Allah says that Allah descends, the Prophet said that Allah descends to the lowest heaven.

Allah comes close to his servant on the day of Arafah.

It doesn't mean only in mercy, it doesn't mean only in acceptance of dua, but it also means that Allah himself gets closer.

in a way that befits him .

Come.

أَلَا مِنْ سَائِلٍ فَاعُطِيَهَا Isn't there anybody there who wants something so I can give him? Is there anyone who is asking for forgiveness so I can forgive him? Isn't there anyone who is asking for repentance so I can accept his repentance? Is there anybody who needs anything so I can provide for him? Where are you? So when you see Allah Azza wa Jalla coming close, you come close.

The thing that is at the zenith of why we pray, it's remembrance of Allah.

Okay? So now he asks, or he forces us to ask the question, what happens if I pray and I'm not remembering Allah? Like, have I not prayed? Is it one of those things? If I didn't do this, like if I go to Hajj, for example, the Prophet ﷺ says that Hajj is Arafah, okay? Hajj is Arafah.

Or if I go for Umrah, for example, and I don't make Talaf, did I make Umrah? No, you didn't actually, right? You have to do certain things.

But is this that? No, it's not that, okay? Salah has external qualifications, requirements.

On the 8th of Zuhra Hijjah, he went to Mina.

And on the 9th day, he went to Arafah.

That afternoon, in the middle of the valley of Arafah, he delivered his farewell sermon.

He began with the words, O people.

Notice how he didn't say, O Muslims, because this call wasn't only for those standing in Arafah that day.

It was for every single person who would come until the day of judgment.

Men and women, young and old, he was speaking to over 100,000 people and threw them to every generation to come.

And he's in front of almost 140,000 companions.

It's Yawm al-Arafah, the day of Arafah.

And he's standing on the mountain of Arafah, and there's thousands of people in front of him.

And at that moment, he says something so profound.

In that moment, he says to the people, he says these final words as if he's leaving.

It is the year of farewell hajj.

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala revealed on the farewell hajj, on this day, on Arafah, this day I have perfected the religion for you.

This surah, Ibn Ashur rahimahullah, the famous Mufassir, he said that this is likely from amongst the last ten surahs ever revealed.

Ever revealed.

There's a relationship there.

"Alastu bi Rabbikum?" And we all said, "Bala." We all said, "Bala." This Yawm al-Mithaq took place on the plains of Arafah in this season as well.

It took place in Arafah in this season as well.

And so we're going back to this primordial truth, this understanding of the oneness of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in these days.

This is the time where we reconnect with these three phrases, my dear brothers and sisters, these three phrases.

And when we say them throughout the day, when we proclaim them in our homes, and I encourage you, if the home is quiet, just go through and start saying the takbirat and enco- encourage everyone to come into this.

And as we're doing this, realize these are the days in which truth is made plainly clear.

It is made plainly clear, as bright as day, just like on the day of Arafah, as the Hujjaj are demonstrating, as Ibrahim Alaihissalam demonstrated with his sacrifice.

"She fasts all the optional fast.

Monday, Thursday, three white days, Ashura, Arafah, everything.

But Ya Rasulullah, she hurts her neighbors.

She hurts her neighbors with her tongue." Keep in mind, this woman does not only pray the five daily prayer and fast Ramadan.
