Today we have one of your favorite things, but not the right version of it.

I, I was gonna say, I can see the sound-deafening background.

And Dax, you're gonna like this.

I go to school in the Appalachian Mountains.

And I did a rough straw poll amongst some of our listeners, and it seems like many of them do have access to Apple TV.

But maybe our Tennessean friends that Dax Shepard was talking to don't.

There may be a pocket.

I would love to see the demographics on some of these streaming services.

Yeah, yeah, right, and if I'm recalling the right conversation, the headmaster of the school that Bill Gates went to said that the job of adults is to watch with hawk-like concentration but with childlike curiosity what a young person is doing, to see a little girl, like, twirling around and being like, "How about gymnastics?" So he was in a situation.

I think the profundity of that, that we go through life, and we don't wanna know who Dax Shepard is.

When people Google you, they want to know about you, but the Googling is usually not like, "Tell me about everyone and everything around him.

That thing that he did on Tuesday, I wanna know why he did it because of what was going on." Usually, they wanna know why you did what you did on Tuesday because of you.

Okay, sure.

But I do think it's deeper than that because when you're in a relationship with somebody, and you understand them as everything they do, say, feel, it is a function of who that person is, their character, their mindset, but it's also a function of, like, literally every trivial detail of their situation.

It's like a figure ground shift, and if you can keep it, 'cause again, I think our brain goes into portrait mode, and it's like, "Okay, wait, back to Dax and his story." You know, if you can keep the backstory somehow in focus, then it is a more human and complete way to understand people.

You know, in some ways, like, these two books, right, 10 years apart, they are a set.

Well, I find it particularly funny, Michael, that actually you seem to have a little bit some of the similar kind of indifference about them, if you will, than you do toward like...

Dax Shepard when I think like having them in particular of this movie with them like being on the poster that was kind of like well they were real movie stars if you will kind of given certain uh expectations and it was really good to question if the audience found they were kind of meeting the the expectations given the fans that those actors have they as you said before somebody like Dax Shepard doesn't quite have in the way that like people like uh Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig, and Robin Williams do, really, basically.

Are you trying to compare Jack Shepard to Daniel Craig and Ford?

Well, I'm trying to make the point, Michael, about, like, how, you know, like, what you were saying before, an actor's name, that kind of builds sort of expectations.

Like, we talked before about how maybe some people didn't really...

There wasn't as much hype for Sestura as there was for Jumanji because of, like, Dax Shepard not being as big of a star as, like, somebody like Robin Williams, but, like...

Guys like Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, they're really kind of big stars that kind of get get that help kind of get audience into seats.

They can also, though, leave audiences disappointed when they go into certain expectation and feel like maybe we didn't get what we wanted, really, as Robin Williams could also do that, really.
