Lindsay CrosbyHOST
33:04
You have a bunch of guys who gave you good innings in AAA.
Lindsay CrosbyHOST
33:09
Cedric de Grand Prix, right? Davis Polo shot all the way through the system at age 21.
Lindsay CrosbyHOST
33:14
Herrick Hernandez was in AAA to end the year.
Lindsay CrosbyHOST
33:17
Drew Hackenberg looks like he got over his injuries and may have fixed his career.
GauravGUEST
10:54
We didn't get to see that, but I do expect him to have some of the highest, uh, highest ceilings and s- some of the highest expectations as we enter 2027.
Jake MastroianniHOST
11:03
So next, we're gonna take a look at the next pairing of, of rankings here, including the biggest riser in all of the Braves farm system this season in Davis Polo.
Jake MastroianniHOST
11:12
We'll talk about him and some others here, uh, next.
Jake MastroianniHOST
11:19
A quiz on your phone and a box at your door isn't a clinic.
Jake MastroianniHOST
13:55
I'll put the link down to the, the description of this episode too.
Jake MastroianniHOST
13:57
But moving on to 11 through 15, got Diego Torn- Tornez, bit of a, a frustrating, disappointing year for him.
Jake MastroianniHOST
14:04
Luke Sinard, you could say the same, but Davis Polo in this group, Owen Carey as well, and Eric Hernandez, three guys we're really excited about and high on.
Jake MastroianniHOST
14:12
But Davis Polo, you got it here, a plus 32 ranking change for him.
BenHOST
13:52
Exactly, and a lot of that, you know, you just want those guys.
BenHOST
13:55
Look at what the Augusta coaches, especially, just I'm going with Augusta, did with Davis Polo this year and with Ethan Bagwell this year and several of the other guys that we have talked about on this show over the course of this season.
BenHOST
14:11
you know, past 10 episodes, nine episodes that we've had, they have really blossomed.
BenHOST
14:18
And when they get with these coaches and get to talk with them and work with these guys, they really fine tune some of this stuff.
Jake MastroianniHOST
3:28
... we only have triple A this week.
Jake MastroianniHOST
3:30
We don't have a lot to talk about, but I'm sure Gorav will, will go into deep detail on a lot of these players, including our pitcher of the week, who, [sighs] I mean, I know Davis Polo, we'll get into him later.
Jake MastroianniHOST
3:41
Uh-
GauravGUEST
3:41
[laughs]
GauravGUEST
7:12
Uh, but it will be interesting to see, again, if, uh, is he gonna be a pitcher the Braves utilize in Atlanta next year? Is he gonna be someone that they feel like they can leverage in a trade because of his ability to throw four different pitches and command all four? Like, these are a lot of questions that are gonna be asked this off-season going into next year.
GauravGUEST
7:30
But as is, it's time to celebrate Brett Sears and what has been just a phenomenal year for him.
GauravGUEST
7:34
He's someone that while I, while I do believe Davis Polo is my pitcher of the year, Brett Sears is right below because he's done just a phenomenal job a- across all steps and all stops.
GauravGUEST
7:46
And, uh, again, he's just a fast- he's just like couple of, uh, miles an hour on his fastball away from truly being that kind of middle-of-the-rotation type of player or type of pitcher that so many people like to see.
Jake MastroianniHOST
8:25
Um, you know, even a, a Luis Vargas, who me and Gorab had talked about a lot on the, the prospect episode, and see if maybe one of these guys could spark something and, and be that lift.
Jake MastroianniHOST
8:35
I know some people have talked about, you know, what about a Davis Polo? What about a Cam Cannady? Call one of them up to be that, you know, kind of post-season star like we've seen other teams do.
Jake MastroianniHOST
8:42
I just don't really...
Jake MastroianniHOST
8:43
I don't think they're gonna do that at this point.
Jake MastroianniHOST
8:43
The coaches are always the first one that's going to, you know, take the heat and get the blame, but it's also some roster construction issues that the Braves have had just because of the core that they've, they've built.
Jake MastroianniHOST
8:54
Calvin McDonald says, "Maybe this is more of a Monday question with Gora, but could Davis Polo make a David Price, Adam Wainwright type of appearance in the playoffs this year?" No, he's 21, um, and he's made four starts above single A.
Jake MastroianniHOST
9:05
We're not gonna see Davis Polo this year.
Jake MastroianniHOST
9:07
He is rule five eligible, so we may see him, uh, next year at some point.
Jake MastroianniHOST
9:12
Uh, but no, I don't think it'll be for the post-season.
Daniel BrooksGUEST
14:58
Well, off-season right now I'm working on a changeup, just getting a changeup back into the arsenal, and then-
BenHOST
15:04
Talk to Davis Polo, please.
BenHOST
15:06
Talk to D-
Daniel BrooksGUEST
15:06
Yeah, he's got a good one
Greg HoogkampHOST
24:32
Aaron Estrada, Ethan Anderson with the Orioles.
Greg HoogkampHOST
24:36
Harleen Susana for the Nats, and then for the Braves, Davis Polo has kind of really been strong the last several weeks, even a couple months now at this point, and Drew Hackenberg for the Braves.
Greg HoogkampHOST
24:49
In AA, Eduardo Quintero and Charles Davilon up to Tulsa for the Dodgers.
Greg HoogkampHOST
24:54
Josiah Hartshorn into AA.
Jake MastroianniHOST
2:33
Oh, sorry, sorry, we did change that.
Jake MastroianniHOST
2:34
Davis Polo.
GauravGUEST
2:35
[laughs]
Jake MastroianniHOST
2:35
That is my fault.
Jake MastroianniHOST
2:35
We had a last-minute adjustment there.
Jake MastroianniHOST
2:37
It is Davis Polo.
GauravGUEST
2:39
Yeah, no, uh, both pitched fantastic actually last week.
GauravGUEST
2:42
Davis Polo making a pair of starts, uh, as well, in- including his double A debut.
RyanHOST
9:05
Even over Owen Murphy's performance.
RyanHOST
9:07
Davis Polo, his AA debut.
RyanHOST
9:10
Six-inning pitch, one hit, one walk, no earned, and eight strikeouts.
RyanHOST
9:15
His changeup is just lethal.
Gaurav VedakGUEST
11:08
He has been a Braves, you know, top 30 type of guy, especially if you talk to people over at Baseball America for several years.
Gaurav VedakGUEST
11:16
The issue has always been recovering from injury.
Gaurav VedakGUEST
11:18
How is he going to come back? We saw the rust at the start of the season, right? Maybe not so much rust, but he wasn't exactly the Davis Polo of, oh, I got to get this guy on my top 30, right? But what we saw over time, over the course of the full season, was someone that got a more and more confidence in their four seam their four seam command we saw him being able to spot the four seam not only at the top of the zone but he's done a fantastic job of being able to get it on all four quadrants he's able to get it at the bottom of the zone when he needs to he also has comboed that really well this year by throwing a really solid two seam that has almost 15 inches of horizontal movement and uh included and also eight inches of vertical movement so it's a hard moving two seam fastball like you said the changeup has been absolutely dynamite this year i mean when you actually compare it to his two seam, his two seam and his changeup have similar movement in terms of the amount of distance changed.
Gaurav VedakGUEST
12:12
The main difference being the two seam comes in at 94 miles an hour and the changeup comes in at 84.
